I really like this book ...
I am really glad I bought this book. I just learnt how to etch on You Tube (if you're interested, look up "Beaducation etching base metals" and it has a 15 minute video which showed me clearly and concisely how to do it - it's really easy) but I was looking for inspiration as to what I could make with my new found skill. This book is exactly what I was looking for, and just from flicking through it the first time I was inspired by not only the projects contained in it, but what else I could branch off to make. Exactly what I was wanting, inspiration.Kristen Robinson and Ruth Rae suit my style perfectly - I checked out their blogs, as I do with all crafting type authors before I buy a book to see what their style is like to make sure it's compatible with what I like - and I love their feminine aesthetic. They use metal they've etched along with resin, fabric, sari silk as well as the usual beads etc, so I was more than pleased with what they offered. I'm going to make a few of the projects and got a lot of inspiration for other projects - exactly what I was looking for.So people know, don't buy this book if you're looking for in-depth and detailed etching information, for whilst it does tell you how to etch, this book is more about making feminine style jewelry with etched metal.

Covered some crafts that I will prolly never use
The first part of the book covered - thoroughly - the process of etching metal. The authors made the process look fun and easy. Then they started using fabric in the projects which required a sewing machine and I do not own one so I was disappointed that there weren't more projects to do w/o using a sewing machine. But, again, the parts on etching metal were great - lots of pics and lots of step-by-step descriptions. Well done on that aspect.

Love it
I own a lot of jewelry "making" books.....many of them are repeating things I already know. I figured this book would be similar...and I would thumb through it and find little of use to me. I find it difficult to follow other folks patterns, and figured since this was step by step I wouldn't like it at all. Well I was so wrong. There are so many things I love, many new ways to use metal and resin along with etching information. Great photos, good lists for products, nice tips. Actually I am loving this book. And even though I will probably not make a thing in this book as directed, the idea, techniques and inspiration is well worth the money.

Great book/great price/fast delivery...who could ask for anything more?
awesome book at a great price. I had been lusting after this book at a local store, and when I finally decided to buy it, they were out......of course. I wasn't sure of the title, but I did remember the cover shot. The price was lower(even with shipping) than the price I'd have paid had my local store had it, it arrived promptly, and as I gather the needed materials to do this work, I'm psyched!!!! A great way to personalize my work, put my copyright on each piece; and create pieces that will be hard to copy. I love it!

Exactly what I was looking For
This is exactly what I was looking for. Clear recipes on how to make your own etch solutions. No more paying top dollar for teeny bottles of solution when you can make batches of your own. In addition it has projects that suit my tastes and offers inspiration and other techniques for this medium I have not found elsewhere. An absolute necessity in any jewelry artist's library. I say "don't hesitate on this one!"

A good craft book with limited etching information
The good news is that almost anyone with a few jewelry tools, a butane torch, cloths iron, sewing machine and a few chemicals can complete the copper, brass and often fabric projects. The bad news is there are only a few pages on etching technique, but lots on crafting. She is obviously good at what she does and provides good photos of her projects. If, however, you were looking for a more in-depth exploration of various etching techniques (she only provides a couple of pages on ferric chloride and HCl/H2O2 etching) like electrolytic etching, or processes for silver, iron or gold, you get little help. As a craft book, I would give it four stars, as a discussion of etching techniques, only one.

Good Reference Material
Despite receiving the book with a slight tear to the cover, the content was not disturbed. It is a book that gives many techniques with which to enhance one's creativity.

A book for design ideas not for learning etching
I bought this book hoping for in depth information on the etching process. The authors are creative and have nice designs but not much detailed instruction on etching. There are also some words that appear to be typos. What is muric acid or unsaturated alcohol? Do they mean muratic acid? Denatured alcohol? Those are pretty serious typos when you consider they refer to potentially dangerous chemicals. If you are looking for another basic assemblage book for etched metal jewelry techniques, you might like this book. If you want advanced etching information, seek elsewhere.

fails the trade descriptions act
there are 6 pages out of a 128 page book that deal with etching then there are some pages on other jewelery techniques followed by pages and pages of how to assemble dingy and ugly items using some etched jewellery. I think a five year old could come up with better ideas. really glad i got the cheapest version of this I could and when all said and done I'd get the jewellery lab instead . the Jewellery lab has got 10 pages om etching , useful tips in it not to mention the correct spelling of the chemicals required to etch plus it states clear why various items will work to make a resist and then it gives you another 8 units of basic techniques and ideas to get you start. .... nuff said

I was a little disappointed in this book
I was a little disappointed in this book. I bought it primarily for the etching portion and found there were only a few pages on that and it did not discuss many options for the imprinting of an image on metal.I found that the step by step portions skipped many steps and the pictures were not clear on what she was doing. Sometimes the fingers got in the way of a good shot.I am familiar with a lot of the techniques shown so I knew what to do but if you are a beginner I think it would be difficult to follow. All in all it is an OK resource.

Excellent!
Great photos, clear instructions and excellent project ideas, which have really inspired me! It's taken the "fear" out of etching for me. Very highly recommended.

Like but not LOve
I was assuming that most of the book would be about etching and not the other techniques. The title is a bit misleading.
