Santa Rosa toilet genuine lever
I had incorrectly purchased Kohler 87115-CP a while back and it the handle would sit incorrectly on my Santa Rosa toilet. I just dealt with it for 9 months. I was on Kohler's website for another problem and went through the process of finding the actual part. For my toilet, this is the right part. Works perfectly. Installed in less than 5 minutes. If you're questioning which part is correct, google "kohler service parts", and it'll walk you through how to figure it out. Still have questions? Contact them via livechat. They're more than helpful.

I Contacted Kohler to Identify Correct Replacement Part
I contacted [email protected] and learned the toilet model number is stamped into the porcelain on the inside of the tank. My toilet had model number F3810AA. Kohler told me the correct replacement part for my toilet is K-1158701-CP. I ordered that part from Amazon and it is a perfect fit. The plastic collar that fits into the side of the tank is oriented like a diamond shape (or a square shape turned 45 degrees) when the part is installed, which matches the hole in the side of my Santa Rosa toilet tank. Previously, I bought a lever that looked like it should fit, but the plastic collar was orientedk to the floor like a square shape and as a result the flush handle did not fit correctly or operate correctly. I suggest getting the toilet model number from the back of your toilet tank and emailing Kohler at [email protected] to make sure you order the right part.

So it sort of works
Purchased as the existing one was sticky. The hole it fits in seems to vary in older versions of the Santa Rosa toilet. This fits the diamond shape, not the square. Its 45 degrees different than the one I had before. So the handle sticks up funny, and the flush occasionally fails to engage. Kohlers online guides lead to this part, and the part appears genuine. Others appear to have encountered this. Saving the plastic part from the old trip lever may correct the issue, but generally that plastic part is what wore or got sticky in the first place.

From an experienced plumber...
Buy this entire assembly (1072320) rather than replace the valve seal washer/flapper (1131496). I tried replacing just the seal and it started leaking again within a couple months. Something else in the assembly must have been failing to assist in creating a good seal and I could not seem to make an adjustment that helped. The new assembly also comes with a replacement gasket for the bottom where the flush valve attached to the tank. That part is not sold individually and is likely pretty corroded by now. For the same reason, you should probably also purchase a new tank/bowl gasket (1032265) which is sold separately. The new flush valve was slightly different where the fill tube connects and it comes in a Kohler box with instructions for Geberit and Sterling models, but it was indeed the right replacement for my Sterling Rockton model. Would give it 5 stars, but overall, I am fed up and disappointed with Kohler. Their so-called "lifetime" warranty is full of loopholes, and their engineering has gotten overly complicated and impractical. After being a big fan for twenty years, I would buy Toto over Kohler hands down. Japanese toilet technology is light years ahead and Toto basically invented the bidet/washlet.

Original product for kolher
Works great. Turning this device in the tank is more easily done by inserting a tennis ball in the throat to give you something to grab and twist with.

Perfect replacement for the mechanism in my Kohler Sterling Unit
This turned out to be an exact replacement for the part in my Sterling toilet that I purchased approximately 10 years ago. Easy install, but you should also buy a new tank/bowl gasket (1032265) which is sold separately. This was recommended in another review (titled "From an experienced plumber), and his advice to buy that additional gasket saved me a huge headache. This part was manufactured by the same supplier as the original part (Geberit). I still have the original instructions from my purchase 10 years ago, and it's exactly the same. The negative review that shows pictures and calls it "some crap" is misleading and uninformed (unless they bought the wrong part)

This is the right part for the Kohler Santa Rosa
Many of the flush handle rods are made of plastic these days. You can cut the length to what might work, but there is ability to bend. The universal models just don't get it done. This is the only part I have found for the Santa Rosa that will install easily and work flawlessly. Wasted a lot of time with previous "experiments."

Worked well.
I had to unscrew the metal rod from the handle assembly to place the unit into position. Not an issue. Very happy with the pie e and associated hardware from the seller

I always try and buy original parts for certain repairs, this was a good decision.
Replacement part was identical to original and now the toilet works like new.

Didn't solve the problem - now having Kohler try to help me...
Bought 3 of these to replace sticking levers in 3 of the 4 Kohler Santa Rosa toilets which I have in a home I recently bought - all 3 stick open after flushing. None of them were cured, and I finally called Kohler (Canada, although I got the US service desk). Very helpful lady, who is sending me one of an earlier design to see if that works - if so, they will send a couple more, free of charge. Hasn't arrived yet so I can't give any useful info about the product. Seems to me, though, that it can't be that difficult to make a flush lever that works - after all, it's only a simple lever. I would think that a small stainless steel spring to aid in returning the thing to the horizontal (closed) position would do the job, but I guess there isn't enough profit in a $600 toilet to cover the cost of a 10 cent spring.
