I have sparkling dishes again with a old machine
This is a great product. I live in S. TX and have really hard water. Our dishwasher is probably 20 years old but works fine for now. Iโm trying non toxic brands for everything but for dishes is necessary for me because cancer runs on both sides of my husbands family and I canโt risk it with my little one. I tried seventh generation since I love their sink soap and truly free dishwasher but my dishes were not clean some had residue even though I donโt load them in with food on it just scraped off stuff and after washing the machine twice a month. I used two pods last night and my dishes are left 99% clean and sparkling, Top rack| practically clean mid sized plates Glass tumblers (some residue in tumbler) Most coffee cups with the exception of dried up coffee in a mug, milk in another Bottom rack| almost everything is clean forks and spoons two silicone bento boxes (normally they come out dirty with other brands) 14oz stainless steel tumbler dirty muffin pan (never comes out clean, sometimes itโs got stuff stuck or I have to scrub it after soaking overnight) I like that it has no fragrance and come in a box without plastic. The box always comes a bit smashed but itโs fine. Iโll probably will not use two pods since itโs a bit slimmy but no powder residue was left behind. Since it works so well Iโll purchase again but in bulk because itโs expensive one 32pod box at a time.

Mostly good, but not for ceramics
I like the fact that this has minimal packaging which is easily recycled. And it seems to clean dishes well. Unfortunately it seems to bring out the invisible/microscopic cracks in ceramic cookware and serving-ware. I wonder if, because it's mineral-based, it deposits minerals in those tiny cracks, turning them darkish-gray in an otherwise white surface. I don't know if it etches glassware; I haven't used it long enough to say. My enthusiasm is partial. UPDATE: When I was hand drying some dishes out of the dishwasher, I got more info about what's happening. Drying the inside of my favorite mugs, my towel got schmutzed by a grey residue from inside the mug. Aha! This product actually leaves a mineral residue on some ceramic finishes, which can be wiped off. In my two photos, the residue is clearly seen on the paper towel. One image shows the cloth towel better, the other shows the unwiped mug (on the right) better, without the misleading shadow cast inside the unwiped mug in the other foto. It appears this affects some surfaces more than others. I have some white porcelain pasta bowls which show no cracks or deposits from this product. Someone told me: in some types of pottery, white is the base coat, and other colors are additional coats painted on the piece. So some types of ceramics may develop these spider lines, others, if they have a "finish" white coat, may not. Now let's not get in a lather (unduly). Minerals are generally safe substances; in fact, most people don't have adequate mineral intake. I'd just rather be in control of my mineral intake, and not have to remember to switch to a paper towel for *some* drying.

I bought Ecover, dropps and trueartth and these were 2nd best. Ecover was the best. Not perfect but that couldnโt just be my crappy dishwasher. Rinsed nice every time with no residue left. Dropps were an ok 2nd, Iโd use them in a pinch and TruEarth was crap every time.

I have been using Dropps for about 3 months and have been very impressed. The pods are small so easy to fit in dispenser, the scent is gentle and I have found it more gentle on my dishes' finishes and colors. The cleaning has been 99% in my 15 year old Bosch machine - only once did a casserole dish with cheese melted onto the bottom no come clean.
