Great product
Looks nice and works well. I’ve been using this product with my succulents, some beneath the soil, and some on top. It seems to have reduced the amount of gnats, and wicked out the excess moisture.

many uses, good price
Like the first reviewer, I checked a couple of local outlets before finally ordering this from Amazon. I intended to use it not in soil but to filter water, not for drinking but for bathing and for plant use (both collected rain and city water). I take tub baths and had been looking into chlorine filters for the tub, most of them seeming overpriced. I folded about a cup or so into a bandana and tied it around the tub spout. It took a little adjusting to make sure most of the water ran through it but the usually overchlorinated city water was significantly less chlorinated and did not sting my eyes and nose as it normally does. If I used it for nothing else it would be a good bargain. Going to try making 2-3' hose sections with screen ends when the growing season starts, and using those as a filter, as well as a filter from the downspout to the rain barrels.A good deal, although I do wish I could have found it in my usual shopping areas. I was surprised there wasn't any horticultural/aquaculture charcoal at the home warehouse store near us, especially considering they sell pond equipment.

Easy to Use, Hard to Find!
This is a must have for a terrarium or planters that do not have drainage. I have a 40 gallon aquarium that I converted to a tropical terrarium and I used the charcoal on top of pea gravel. I also use this for planting in non-traditional plant containers that do not have drainage. This stuff works great and keeps plants fresh even with the high humidity of the closed terrarium. I have not had mold or any of the other problems when using charcoal under the growing medium. This stuff is great but hard to find locally. I am glad I bought it and did not skip this step. I'm afraid I would have had to start over very soon without the charcoal layer under the soil.+ Resealable Bag+ Price+ Small Pieces+ Many Uses+ No Mold/Fungus Problems Anymore+ Terrarium Remains Fresh- Dusty (I wear disposable gloves and grab it from the bag instead of pouring to create dust)_Bottom Line_ Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. I actually made another order after seeing how this product keeps the soil fresh. I enjoy putting plants in containers that are not made for plants (no drainage mainly), and glass containers cannot have drainage hole added easily. I removed several plants from fish bowls, vases, etc. and placed the charcoal in the bottom and put the plant back in. So glad I did! You cannot go wrong here especially for the amount/price. 5 Stars

Excellent Quality
I purchased this for a plant terrarium. It was exactly what I needed, and I'm very pleased with the quality of the charcoal. It's not just a bunch of dust. This was my first project so I was hesitant to make a choice, but horticultural charcoal is the way to go if this is what you are putting together.Worth the cost. I've had my terrarium for several months, and it has never had any odor when I lift the lid. I will always use this product for future projects.

Nice for little terrariums
I bought this to add as a layer in a succulent terrarium I'm making. Can't say if it works or not but I attached pictures as to size and what you get as well as how much 24 oz is. They're tiny little chunks. The bag is different from the picture but it's just a bag.

It was perfect for my projects
I really liked the smaller chunks. Worked perfect for my terrarium and a couple no drainage pots. I also started mixing a little charcoal, to my soil. I usually mix my own soil. I think it adds extra air circulation for the roots. The chunks of charcoal aren't to small they are perfect. I had bought a bag from the local nursery and the chunks were really big or it was dust. Needless to say I really like this kind of charcoal. Perfect size and the plants love it. Just be careful when using the charcoal. It's all has a little dust and you don't want to be breathing it in. So I'd use a mask or pour it and back away for a few min. Hope this helps.

Peace of mind for roots to breathe
This is amazing! It has helped keep my succulents alive indoors as it snows outside all winter. They’ve survived and thrived as they grow and I’ve primed them and no water ever rots bc of this. I simply add 1 inch, as suggested on bag, at the base of a pot (hole or not), add my very own soil mix of perlite, sand, and soil and place my succulents. This is also the same charcoal I use for my indoor herb garden, and all types of plants to increase oxygen to roots. I love this! It keeps my mind at peace knowing there’s isn’t rotting water at the base of my pots.

great quality
Great quality. I would buy this product again. A little on the expensive side but still reasonable. I had trouble resealing the bag after use so I put it into another bag that was easier to reseal.
