These rotors are the first ones I've bought separately for mountain bike wheels. They may stop a road bike perfectly fine but these are not good for riding downhill on dirt. I put on Shimano SLX hydraulic brakes on the front of one of my bikes a few weeks ago, and they worked fine with the rotors that came with the bike originally. I have a new front wheel and put one of these new rotors on, and the stopping power was noticeably worse. They work, but not nearly has well as other brake rotors. I think they would be OK on the back but not the front. If you are mountain biking, you do not want your brakes to be inhibited by anything. So maybe I'll use them for the back, maybe I'll throw them away, not sure yet.
