GreenLaren LED Grow Light with 24-Hour Mechanical Outlet Timer, 5W Plant Light with Spring Clamp and 360°Flexible Gooseneck Arm for Indoor Plant

My daughter was gifted a terrarium so we bought this to go with it. This light actually worked better than I thought it would. My daughter planted the seeds, watered it, and we scheduled the timer. She kept coming home from school and checking for growth. I told her it would be quite awhile until she saw anything start to grow (thinking back to my elementary school days of planting seeds in styrofoam cups) but noooo, the light had to go prove me wrong! It was like 3 days and it sprouted up and by a week it was pushing out the top of the terrarium. I unfortunately killed it because I took it away from the light and put it in the window (and forgot to keep watering it since my daughter couldn't reach the window) but the light worked great!My only complaints are that since it only has a clip it makes it a little challenging to find a place close enough to an outlet that you can clip it to. Also, the light is ridiculously bright. I originally set it for overnight but when it gave off that bright pinkish glow coming down the hallway like an alien invasion, I ended up switching the timer to be on when we weren't around. Overall though, I'm happy with the light and timer and despite my long history of never being able to grow and keep plants alive, I'm now contemplating starting a little garden with this light.

I purchased this lamp because my current dwelling it is extremely dark for any plants to thrive. I have been wanting my lavender and snake plant to get at least a bit of light a day. One of the plants requires low amounts of light, but lavender is a high sun plant and it needs it as much as it can. I miss gardening and there is literally no light anywhere where I live unfortunately. I saw this on Amazon and I thought that it might work and with its clip on feature it would be easy to attach to my mantle. The head of the lamp is extremely flexible and it allows you to place it in any direction and the large and strong clip allows you to place it almost anywhere. I am very please so far with the functionality of it and the style. I have been concerned that it might actually be a bit too intense so I have placed it higher up than normal to prevent it from burning the plants. I usually place my snake plant under it for about 5 hours a day and the lavender for a full 10 hours and I have seen some positive results, and it has allowed me to have plants practically living in a cavern. The timer included is pretty easy to use if you have used one before, I do recommend looking up a video tutorial on youtube with the words "Mechanical Plug Timer" any video that pops up will help many of you figure out how to set it up properly. The pins come already pushed down to allow it to work all the time, it is up to you to push them back up to set up the timer. Meaning that when the pins are pushed down it allows the lamp to work, but when pushed up those are the times you do not want the lamp to be "on". The timer feature in front is only used to set up the current time. Once you have figured it out the first time you will be able to set it up as a pro. I will keep updating this review as time goes by to see how long the device lasts for and if it helps or hurts my plants.

This is a great light. I love that I can just use it and I do not have to assemble it. You can't remove the bold, but that is fine. This ball but will probably last for a long time and I would rather just buy a new one instead of having to take things apart. I am using it because I have some air plants in my bathroom that I want to have there, but my bathroom doesn't have any windows. It works very well. The bulb heats up slightly, but not too much. The only problem I had was that the timer was not accessible to me as a blind user. The timer is composed of tabs and you push all the tabs down and then you push up some of the tabs based on when you want the light to be on. Then you plug the timer into the wall and you plug the light into the timer. My only problem is that this timer could have easily been made accessible to me as a blind user with cost-effective, tactile markings, but it is not. If you are a blind user, you may be able to guesstimate the time if you are familiar with a 24 hour clock, but you will definitely need help to set the time. But the good thing is that once you get the timer set, you really only have to set it one time, so you won't have to keep messing with it. The light is very bright, and many people love the cool effect it gives my bathroom, so consider using this as a part of your decoration. The cord is a bit long and bulky though, so clip it to a mirror or a shelf where you can easily hide the cord. You can easily turn the light on and off. The clip also attaches very well so you will not knock the light off.

Purchased as part of a science experiment on mung bean growth to determine which of 4 different lights would produce the greatest plant growth. It is WORSE than the other 3!!! It's worse than a 9 watt household LED bulb [60 watt equivalent], 40 watt incandescent household bulb, and an 8" 4 watt flourescent bulb that oddly has had the greatest plant growth, slightly greater than the 9 watt LED bulb. Unfortunately, I convinced my daughter to write up her prediction that this grow light would produce the most growth when she wanted to say that the flourescent light would have the most growth.[For experimental purposes, all plants and lights are enclosed in an 18" x 16" x 16" box that is closed at all times (accept for measuring plant growth daily and watering) to control the environment and source of light, with all lights turned on and off by a power strip that is on 10 hours per day.]The clip for the light is convenient and the neck is quite flexible. I never tried the timer.

I am very pleased with this lamp, my plants are happy and I'm happy.The timer is so simple and easy to use, the lamp works wonderfully and doesn't get hot at all.Bonus, the seller followed up to be sure I was happy with my product.
