From Skepticism to Stunning Success: Wondercide Wasp Killer Delivers (and Smells Good Doing It!)
Every review is inherently personal. What one might hail as a groundbreaking success, a revolutionary triumph that reshapes understanding or thrills beyond measure, another might find merely adequate, or even profoundly disappointing. My recent encounter with the Wondercide Wasp and Hornet Killer Aerosol Spray perfectly encapsulates this sentiment, transforming my initial doubt into genuine admiration. My immediate need was stark: an active wasp nest was rapidly being built right by my front door, presenting a clear and present danger. My selection of the Wondercide - Wasp and Hornet Killer Aerosol Spray with Natural Essential Oils - Kill Wasps, Hornets, and Yellow Jackets - for Porch, Patio, and Outdoor Areas - Pet and Family Safe - 10 oz. - 2 Pack was purely pragmatic: it was the only solution available for overnight delivery, and honestly, for no other reason. I just needed something, fast. Upon first deploying the spray, the aroma was the initial surprise. Far from the harsh chemical fumes I'd anticipated from a pest killer, it presented a scent reminiscent of a pleasant bathroom air freshener. Admittedly, this immediately triggered skepticism. My thought process was direct: "If it smells this good, there's no way this stuff is actually going to work on something as tenacious as wasps." My initial skepticism was completely unfounded, and I braced myself for disappointment. However, my preconceived notions were utterly shattered. With a direct hit to the nest, the results were astonishingly swift. Wasps began dropping out, not just stunned, but undeniably dead. The efficacy was immediate and undeniable. I was genuinely impressed that something with such an agreeable scent could be so lethally effective. It was a groundbreaking success for me, turning a moment of urgency into a surprising triumph. This surprising success prompted me to do what I probably should have done before purchasing: I revisited the product's online description to learn more about what I had just used. And I can confidently say, the description holds true: Kills by Contact: The product description promises a "quick kill and fast knockdown" of wasps, and my experience meticulously confirmed this. The 15-foot long-distance jet spray was also highly effective, allowing me to maintain a safe distance while effectively tackling the open-faced nest. Protects Your Home and Outdoor Areas: While my primary use was for a specific nest by the front door, knowing it's versatile for "porches, patios, decks, playscapes, and more" speaks to its broad usefulness for outdoor pest control. Safe Around Kids and Pets When Used As Directed: This was the revelation that truly elevated my opinion. Discovering it's "safe to use as needed throughout outdoor areas around kids, pets, and your loved ones, when used as directed," provides an enormous amount of peace of mind, especially when dealing with pests in high-traffic areas. Plant Powered and Proven Effective: The use of "steam-distilled natural essential oils of lemongrass and geraniol" explains the pleasant smell and provides a "safe alternative to commonly used sprays you may have in your garage or shed that contain questionable ingredients." The absence of artificial colors or fragrances is a significant bonus. Easy-to-Use and U.S.A. Made: The aerosol format is straightforward and easy to deploy, and knowing it's "propelled by CO2 USA made* and powered by plant-based active ingredients" further adds to its appeal. In summary, what began as a desperate, last-minute purchase based solely on delivery speed transformed into a genuinely impressive discovery. Wondercide's Wasp and Hornet Killer not only swiftly solved my immediate pest problem but did so with an unexpected pleasantness and, critically, a commitment to safety that I now deeply appreciate. This product truly reshaped my understanding of effective pest control. I wholeheartedly recommend this product for anyone dealing with stinging insects. Just remember to follow the directions for optimal, safe use. It delivered a revolutionary triumph for me!

Worked… but at what cost
We bought this hornet spray because apparently hornets decided to build their own gated community right at the entrance to our pool. Not cool. The can claims “kills on contact,” but what it doesn’t mention is the Olympic-level cardio workout required to actually deliver said contact. Picture this: two grown adults, one can of spray, and a lot of screaming while performing interpretive dance moves across the backyard. Spray, scream, sprint, repeat. Pretty sure the neighbors thought we were auditioning for a new reality show: So You Think You Can Panic. In the end, yes—the hornets are gone (RIP, pool bullies). But the process was less “pest control” and more “emotional rollercoaster.” The product works, but only if you’re ready for a side of chaos, fear-induced cardio, and the sudden realization that hornets don’t respect personal boundaries. 10/10 would recommend. Not because I want to relive the trauma, but because now I can walk to the pool without negotiating a peace treaty with flying demons.

Oily residue
Leaves an oily mess. It smells a bit like conventional bug spray. I used it to get rid of wasps and to stop them from congregating near my entrances and it seems to work. It looks like it’s also keeping them away as I’ve noticed the wasps and Yellowjackets have been very active these past few weeks. Me and one of my kitties were stung so I’m not going to do nothing but I didn’t want to spray pure poison (the conventional sprays) either for many other reasons-like my pets and honeybees. This seems to be doing the job. —————————— Update: it has kept a swarm away from a previous spot and a new different kind of wasp swarming a different spot. One strange side “benefit” is it may attract fruit flies, but the fruit flies seem to be killed by it too.

Doesn’t kill bees
It smells nice but kills on contact is false. I tried this as an alternative to “Wasp Freeze” and it was very apparent Wasp Freeze works way better and kills immediately. This stuff here is oily and smells good though

Somewhat Effective
I bought this to take out a hard to get to wasp nest under some siding/soffit that multiple cans of raid and black flag, and an exterminator, failed to get rid of. Like other wasp sprays, it doesn't really kill unless it comes in direct contact when wet. But what it does do, is repel them. It was successful in causing the wasps to leave the nest. Unfortunately, the wasps set up shop elsewhere, but I was able to deal with that nest more easily. Unlike other sprays, it does leave a sticky, shiny residue that does seem to repel wasps and kill small bugs, but is somewhat difficult to get rid of. Overall, it isn't great, but at the end of the day, it did solve the problem.
