Worth the wait!
So, I had one of these for about 8 years & it died. So I figured I could get a new one next day via Prime & since I couldn't I ordered a Black & Decker grinder..... so I ordered this 2nd Hamilton Beach- even though twice as much as the B&D. WHY? 1) The detachable grinding cup is awesome... 2) the plug cord stays put coming out of the base, not sliding in & out of the slot to keep it in & 3) I can grind the coffee & walk off- you don't have to hold the grind button down. Welcome back ol' friend, you were well worth the wait! Getcha one today!

Precisely, quietly, efficently and quickly grinds coffee and spices, love it!
It's a little bit hard to get the top on correctly at first, it's a lot like a Cuisinart that way. Most likely to ensure the lid is all the way closed before grinding so no sharp pieces fly out. That is the only negative I can come up with, otherwise it's a dream!Feels solid and well built, even the plastic feels hefty and durable. There are a lot of different grind levels depending on how fine you need the coffee or spices. We've used it for both with great results and it wipes out clearly enough that the coffee doesn't taste like cardamon, pepper or anything else so far (Although if you like flavored coffee, cardamon with a hint of black pepper would probably be pretty good! Lol)It is also very quiet for a coffee grinder. We've had it going in the apartment which is terribly insulated for noise at all hours of the day and night without one comment, complaint or passive agressive joke from wall/ceiling/floor sharing neighbors. That's crazy considering I've literally had complaints about our cat walking around (yep, you read that correctly. π² Complaints about our 9lb. CAT walking around on carpeted floors in the middle of a weekday...without shoes.πΈπ π) from one of them. Can't beat the price either! 4th Hamilton beach appliance I've purchased now that I think about it. All of them have become mainstays in our kitchen, have lasted a long time and were great deals. We'll be buying this brand whenever we can in future.

5 years, and no issues.
Came here to make 100% sure the cup part is dishwasher safe, because I wanted to try it for spices. Read people having what sounds like lemon manufacturing issues. Bought Sep 9, 2019. I've had zero problems with the plastic lid, or anything else on the grinder. Fill, push the button and walk off to do other things. I'm terrible about cleaning it. Mostly just tapping the cup empty, and a few times wiping with a cloth because it looked crazy dirty.Used about twice a week for the last five year, to make two max capacity grinds for pouring into my long mesh filter, sitting in a 1/2 gallon jar. I've used all the settings a few times. (Spoiler, super fine dust gets created by all settings and I still need to strain the liquid results through a muslin.) No grind setting finer than medium seems to make a stronger batch of coffee either. Coarse grind, the recommended for that type of coffee, is a waste of beans, in my opinion. Needed way more coffee concentrate to get the same awake results vs medium grind.I have no issues with the grinder's performance. Ordered it because of the pre-set grind settings. Perhaps in my coffee ignorance, it shouldn't create dust, but I really wouldn't know. Trying to find a decent tasting bag of beans on the other hand has been rough. Non-grinder related venting below-I bought this grinder because the only brand of coffee that seemed reasonable for the bean farmers kept having low stock of their pre-ground. So I ordered 20 lb bags direct.Various rancid, burnt, and wet dog flavored stuff was my frustration about every other bag. Same blend each time. Then tried small bags of their other blends. Big nope. Ordering from other companies hasn't so far been any better.I don't get why people even like this harsh bitter drink, when it's normal flavored. I'm using it, after a very long personal struggle, specifically as a caffeine dosing agent. Soda, or the like are much worse, and my stomach sadly decided to reject all manner of tea about 8 years ago.

Grounds could be ground finer
works well but i find that the grounds are not so fine even when you have it set to the finest position.

A durable, quiet and economical grinder
I used a previous model of this grinder for over 15 years, until the blade broke. This grinder is an upgrade in several respects, all of which make it more durable as well as quieter. First, the grinding chamber itself is all metal where the previous one had been plastic with metal bands; after several years the plastic had cracked. The grinding chamber cover is much sturdier plastic. These improvements will prevent the situation I had to manage for several years with the older model: the interlock loosened to to cracks in the plastic, and I had to hold the cover in place while it was grinding. This interlock seems to be quite strong and I do not anticipate this problem any longer. It is MUCH quieter than the older model. I usually grind a full chamber. I have used it with a sleeping baby on the other side of the counter peninsula in the kitchen without awakening her. There are five grinding settings, but you can also adjust the grind by varying the amount you indicate to be ground. I usually just keep it on medium and 14 cups, and the coffee tastes great to me. I like the cord-keeper feature, which works easily and helps keep the counter uncluttered when not in use. I am very satisfied after about 6 months of weekly use.

Best Grinder We've Ever Had
This gridner is fantastic! It's super easy to use (the only exception is that you have to twist the cover shut in order for it to turn on, but once you get used to it, it's no problem at all). I love that it's super quiet! The last one we had sounded like an engine! I also like the one-touch button to turn it on - just push it once and walk away! The grinder turns off by itself. The settings are super-easy to set - the type of grind you want, as well and the number of cups. The fact that it has a separate cup which contains the grinds which can be removed and cleaned is fantastic. The grind is very even and consistent. I can't say enough about this grinder! I HIGHLY recommend it!
