Highly recommend!
Obviously not cheap per se, but worth every penny. I've tried several others and all had their pros and cons, this unit has no cons. Nice picture, good color and yes you can watch this in broad daylight. Im at about 10,000 hours of play at this time and have had zero issues. It just works.

Great Upgrade
Is it perfect - no, but as an upgrade to my 13 year old panasonic ae4000 1080p its a helluva deal. I was very lucky to have a perfect throw distance in my media room (14 feet), as you have VERY little adjustment with this projector. If you can make it work in your space, its a great projector. Much brighter and sharper than my old one, and it has no bulbs to replace. 4k HDR at 60 hz is amazing. The contrast is excellent, and it is super sharp. I went with the 45 as there is no reason to have "smart" features on a projector (my avr and fire stick already have wifi). Its also about half the size of my old one, and I paid half the price (a quarter the cost when you consider inflation). Great upgrade!

Defective! Buyer Beware!!
Do not buy this projector! We bought one for our home theater and it had trouble finding the HDMI source. We thought it was a bad cable so we replaced the cable and that seemed to fix the finding of the source issue. Then we decided to watch a movie and the projector kept shutting off every 10-15 minutes. We changed settings/auto shut off times, etc. and then the fan kicked on and it was so loud we couldn’t hear the movie. We sent back the projector but have yet to get our money back. Save yourself the headache and money and just go to Best Buy!!!

Pure Awesome
It's very similar to the LG CineBeam 4k LED projector which is similarly priced. I would give this projector the edge on brightness while the claimed contrast ratio is a bit dubious but still trades blows and the extra brightness makes up for it. Out of the box calibration is better as well. Very little tweaking is needed to get that optimal quality. At 1x zoom chromatic aberration is present. At 1.1x it vanishes. The zoom range capabilities are narrow. I have to give the LG the win on optics. Overall I have to give it a perfect score because I'm very impressed and would recommend it highly. I have compared dozens of projectors in this price range and this one and the LG are currently my favorites, mainly because both of them have good tech and don't have the rainbow effect. This is especially a compliment to Optoma, which have previously had some of the most pronounced rainbows, but for this model in particular, they have eliminated it entirely. Great product.

Not as bright as it claims to be. Great if you are in a dark space, but not for daylight viewing
I purchased this as an option for our movie room. I was impressed by what I read online in reviews, especially the 3,800 lumens, that was impressive. However, when it arrived I was very excited to try out. So I brought it into our living room around 11am, and played it on the wall, just to see how it performed. I didn't feel like it was great in that light. So I moved it into our movie room and it wasn't as bright as I was expecting. Also, the throw distance limitations were not great. The size of the screen was not that big either. I have been through 4 different projectors in the past couple of months and the LG CineBeam ended up being what we landed on.

Not worth 1500 price tag
Should have tested it more when i bought it didnt really hook it up till the last few days till the return window closed, ok for bright gaming like smash bro or COD the projector is bright but anything dark like resident evil the black looks more like bluish grey really bad contrast, for movies its worst on dark scenes and if its bright scene it washes out the whole screen, i guess you get what you pay for 🤷♂️ got it when it was on sale for 1500 bucks

Good Quality, Horrible repairs and replacements, Otherwise not terrible but not great either.
After roughly 40,000 hours I have 7 dead pixels. All in all not a terrible projector. Although I would highly recommend buying a BenQ instead.

Great projector! Very bright, sharp projector for the jump from bulb to laser
I was very skeptical of buying a '4k shifting' projector, but the technology really does work. The image is crisp, and does represent that 4k pop. The HDR on this is also quite good, simple HDR demos really bring out how well the laser brightness pairs with this feature. I would say that after searching for a while I landed with a projector that satisfys my next generation itch from my Benq W1070. The picture is just phenomenal, and no bulbs to worry about. The lack of HDMI 2.1 is a bit disappointing but doesn't really impact me too much. It does have eArc that works well with my Onkyo receiver. The CEC functions don't appear to work too well, but that's just the way that technology goes. I have a 140" screen and this has no problem lighting the whole thing up with lights on somewhat, definitely love the quick on/off too. Overall - highly recommended!

Great projector, bright with clear image
Waited awhile to use it before my review. This projector is great, super bright, clear image, no issues so far. Even though no wifi, it still powers on and off with Alexa and FireTV Cube. I’m very happy with this projector !

It's bright but has some major flaws....
First off the biggest issues I've seen is that the only low input lag port is hdmi 1 which is also the only port that supports arc/earc output. Gaming mode isn't supported one the other 2 inputs. If you play to hook up a gaming system this is a deal breaker and profoundly stupid from a usability stand point. The 2nd issue is hdr is extremely washed out, even after calibration reds are orange at best and the blue is overwhelming. Ive opened a ticket with optoma but no resolution in sight. Even the support Rep agreed its incredibly stupid how arc / low lag is setup. It is bright but no where near as bright as advertised. I'd say half at best. It's ever so slightly brighter than my old 1080 lumen BenQ it's trying to replace. I've also noticed that no matter how hard you try to focus it it's never crisp or sharp. Make sure your mounting is perfectly centered as the built in keystone settings don't work. Zero difference going from one end of the spectrum to the other. I'm likely going to return it and get the BenQ x3000i as I am not impressed at all.
