This needs a movie!!
"Little b---- bit me! That ain't hyperglycemia. The f--- is she on!?""He notices streaks of pink in the cream, and more of the white fluffiness turns red as the pie slides down the man's face."Ok!! I was prepared for maniacal clowns, but I wasn't prepared for such an intricate origin story. And the care Robertson puts into detailing the desires, strengths, fears, and weaknesses of each of the main teenage characters is brilliant--because not only is this a fun read, it is one that I assure you WILL pull at your heartstrings. Along with the goofy shenanigans you get murder and mayhem. For a very brief rundown, I'll say it is about Bonko's Bonanza re-opening after a decade of being shut down--with one of the main attractions being the machine that was used to murder Bonko himself!! That's all I'll say...it's really best you go in blind! So obviously, you need to read this, but be forewarned that no character is safe. No death scene is weakly plotted.

Grotesque, Gruesome, and Bloody Delightful!
I heard about this book from TikTok, and was in the mood to try it out. I’m glad I did!The story hooks you from the very start, getting you involved in the background of the plot almost immediately. It then flows like blood from a wound into a raging, maniacal, craziness of Horror galore. My only reason for the four star review is because of the non-1980s lingo used by some of the main characters. I’m a stickler for historical authenticity, and that’s the only matter about this book that really bugged me.

Three Cheers for Sully the Clown
I wanted to love this story as it had all the ingredients I look for in a good horror tale. On the positive side, you had some wonderfully colourful characters which included Mari, Bonko, Leigh (to some extent), and Sully. It was the Sully character who really shined though and with whom the reader could empathize. On the other hand, the rest of the characters were either dull or unlikeable. The plot dragged on in some places, and I felt that this was the weakest area. There just wasn’t enough action or storyline to keep the reader invested. The author had some interesting ideas with the cut scenes and the music playlist. I liked that the book was written like a screenplay for a movie and I would try another one of his books out in the future.

Fun
This was fun to read. I already am scared of clowns but this took it to another level. I also loved the humor in it too.

I absolutely loved this book! So happy I found you from @apagecastingwitch! It did read like a movie and I pictured it that way the whole time. We have an amusement park near us and I went for a company party right after I finished this and thought about this book the whole time! Kept my attention and was entertaining! Can’t wait to read more from Christopher. You are truly a talented writer and brought excitement back to reading for me :) thank you!!!

Such a great book. So unique!
One of the best books I have ever read! The writing is amazing. The story is so entertaining. I cried, I laughed, I gagged. This reads like a movie and feels like a game! Think Lollipop Chainsaw or Left 4 Dead.I rarely reread stories, but I think this has made my yearly Halloween reread list. If I could give it over 5 stars, I would.

One for the 80s Slasher Fanatics!
I’ll start off by saying that when I first heard about The Cotton Candy Massacre I was intrigued by the title alone. Following on from his previous teen slasher novel Virgin Night, I was excited to dive into another Christopher Robertson book. And, oh boy, this dark night in Bonkin’s Bonanza did not disappoint at all.Like Virgin Night, I didn’t just read a horror novel, I experienced an 80s slasher movie. One I imagine would have stuck out on the shelves of my local VHS store back in the day. I can picture it now: vivid cover art, a cast too old to play their parts and it would be infamous for being labelled a video nasty. Because to be frank, this story is gruesome and twisted just like Buster B. Bonkin himself. And I mean that in the best possible way.As a die-hard fanatic of slasher cinema, it was easy for me to spot the influences that the golden era of the slasher had on The Cotton Candy Massacre—as well as some genre masters. There’s a bit of Hooper, a bit of Zombie—a lot of clowns—but most importantly this is a Robertson story through and through. His cinematic style of writing once again brings out the development of this intriguing setting and fleshes out the characters. I had a particular fondness for Candy and Rocky whose relationship could have been the basis for an almighty 80s power ballad. They are young love at its most dramatic amongst the chaos at Bonkin’s.The Cotton Candy Massacre is the 80s slasher movie that I craved to see, yet it was never made. Robertson gets the subgenre and knows how to put his own spin on it, and he does it with razor sharp precision. There’s no clowning around in that respect.

Another Robertson Hit
The Cotton Candy Massacre - Christopher RobertsonđźŤđźŤđźŤđźŤđźŤThe one-man-show behind the universe that is TerrorScope has done it again. But we shouldn't be surprised. Robertson's fast-paced writing, paired with splatterfest delight, drags you kicking and screaming into his cinematic marvel. The Cotton Candy Massacre follows a couple of recently uncoupled teens and their siblings as they embark on an ill-fated trip to the recently reopened Bonkin's Bonanza. In this carnival extravaganza we find all the usuals - spinning rides, fast rides, haunted rides, shoot em up games, candy apples, hot dogs, cannibalistic clowns. Wait…Introduced with an utterly fantastic foreword by Damien Casey, you'd be f-f-f-foolish not to pick up a copy of Robertson's latest writing endeavour.

A killer clown frenzy
The Cotton Candy Massacre is a gore filled adrenaline ride through a carnival with a dark past, a ride which has no mercy for anyone screaming that they want off. For someone who hates clowns, it certainly doesn't help make them seem friendly. Once again, Christopher has managed to provide a great cast of characters, complete with their own charms and flaws. He has taken the horror and gore of previous books and outdone them in a killer clown frenzy. It very easily draws the reader in, and is quite the roller coaster ride, both in the characters interactions with each other as well as the sheer horror of a fun day out going as badly as it can. It will be interesting to see what manner of horror we are shown next. The Terrorscope universe is proving to be a fantastic read, you can feel the passion that the author has for writing and creating. Ain't that the toot-tootin' truth.

Fun, funny and dripping in gore
Fun, funny and dripping with gore! The Cotton Candy Massacre tells the tale of events of a group of teens and one really messed up day at the Carnival.I got completely sucked into the world of Bonkin's Bonanza that Robertson created. The scenery and characters are all brilliantly written, you genuinely feel the loss of every character. Even all the clowns have their own individual traits and looks. It deals with love, loss, broken people and lots and lots of murdery clowns. Think Rob Zombie levels of nasty but with alot of heart at the centre.A gore coated Candy bar that I just can't get enough of.

It ain’t clowning around this one’s terrifying US back in time style
I hate clowns man. They terrify me. Thought I was being watched by a clown late at night in my garden. The story has that much punch & lasting impact on me. Everyone’s saying the same & it true. Originality, brilliant characters, unique & felt like I was transported back in time in the US. And there’s a cool soundtrack to accompany book.
