I should have paid more attention to the reviews before I ordered this bracket. It’s possible your 20lb tank will fit, but mine didn't initially.Holding the bracket up to a straight edge, the mount has an arc to it (see the photo). If the item weren’t bent, it might immediately fit a 20lb tank with an 8” rim, but it would be tight.There’s a slim chance that if I were to mount this firmly to a flat steel plate, which is my plan, the bracket would straighten enough for the j-hook to catch, but if it doesn’t work, I’m left with two holes and no bracket.I may look for a tank with a 10” rim, or I might just return this item. Haven’t decided yet, but either way, I’m disappointed.***Update as of 5/5/22***I was able to squeeze my tank into the bracket. Here's what I had to do:1. Loosen the bolt holding the ring together2. Bend the ring on the foot of the tank slightly where the J hook catches2. Lay the bracket flat on a concrete slab so that it's straightened out by the weight of the tank as I insert it.I've updated to two stars since I was actually able to get the bracket onto the tank. I'm going to try mounting it. If that works (and I suspect it will), I'll update my review again.***Update as of 6/2/22***Mounting the bracket went smoothly and I'm now happy with it. Some simple, printed instructions with this item would go a long ways. If you mount the bracket securely to a flat surface, it will straighten a bit. Then remove the nut holding the hoop portion of the bracket *entirely* so that you can catch the "J" portion of the bracket on the bottom of your tank, then hold the tank securely in place by putting the nut back on and tightening it completely.The good news is that once this bracket is installed with a tank, neither the bracket nor the tank is going anywhere.

Pleasantly surprised

Works great as a side mount on my camper. Strong and well made. Just make sure you bolt it on with sufficient bolts that will handle the weight of the tank when driving on the road. I used a carriage bolt on the top hole and bolted it all the way through the camper wall with a nut and washer on the inside. I also drilled an extra mounting hole as an added precaution. So far it hasn't budged. Very satisfied.

Well the other reviews lead me to believe that maybe not all tanks are designed the same perhaps. The reviews indicating that the bottom flange doesn’t reach let alone lock into the bottom of the tank are a factor indeed ! Although a handy person can/could remedy this themselves, one shouldn’t have to modify something purchased for that specific application !!!!!It was a good value and it was easy to install and it does look good and it does look like it is structurally sound but it falls WAY short on design. The flange ends up being nearly 2 inches short of grabbing the bottom ring on a tank with an eight (8) inch bottom ring. So I assume if some 20lb tanks come with a larger 10 +” ring then it would fit perfectly. So, buyer keep this in mind when looking at this particular item for holding your BBQ /RV tank in place. Myself, I did what some others did and I modified it to fit properly. When I shopped around at the local trailer/RV sales businesses none of them carried a product like this inasmuch they said the trailers come to them with tank mounts already on them. But they wanted to order one for me and 4 out of 4 only had access to either this particular one or one similar and at double the price it was for sale for on Amazon. So shop with common sense if your looking to secure your propane tank in place and aren’t handy enough to modify it...because it obviously only works with some tanks and not others.
