OXO Good Grips Twisting Jar Opener with Basepad, Black

I don't write many product reviews, but this is an engineering marvel. Simple, compact, opens any lid with no effort, stores easily, and outperforms everything I've ever used, inclduing the motorized and battery operated contraptions that cost high two and three figures more.

Love this jar opener. Works really well. Easy to use. Sure saves my hand. Works on almost every size bottle or jar.

My wife loves Rao’s Homemade Marinara sauce. It comes in the most difficult jar to open that we’ve ever seen. Unlike many companies that use this type of vacuum-sealed jar lid which has indentations along the lid allowing for a pretty good grip, Rao’s uses the same type of lid with no indentations, and regardless of how strong your hand is, your hand just slips around the edge. We had tried an Oxo wedge-shaped device that works on some jars but not this one.This Oxo grips the lid firmly, but you will still need two people, one to hold the jar and one to turn the handle, then the lid pops right off. That little rubber mat that is included does not help other than to keep from marring your countertop. I’m a little skeptical as to durability but this thing works very well. I would definitely buy it again if this one broke, but again, on some jars, you are still going to need two people.

IN LOVE!!!I have a very hard time with jar lids. I try all kinds of things to get them open. I have purchased other lid opener products. This works great! I highly recommend it. It works on very small to very large lids. And does it take a lot of strength to turn it and get a lid open. I would at least try it if you’re having problems so pretty glitch. Great value for the money, also.

This is so well designed and easy to use! It's small enough that it fits nicely in my kitchen utensil drawer without getting caught yet powerful enough to open most all sized bottles/jars. I like the little rubber pad that attaches to the base because it acts as a nice gripper and it snaps into the top tabs of the opener so it doesn't get lost in the drawer. Really handy must have for someone like me with arthritis and it doesn't require much strength to use either plus it's pretty light and ergonomically comfortable. Powerful little gadget!

a friend said it worked great for her so I purchased it and no disappointment. It works easy and fast and does not hurt your hand or arm. I was amazed and very pleased.. I’m going to get some friends this for Christmas gifts.

I never rate anything (well, rarely), but find it necessary to do so this time. This jar opener makes my life easier! It's great for those who have issues or weakness in their hands. I'm, as my mother used to say, "an older person" (she used that as an excuse for EVERYTHING) AND I have arthritis AND trigger finger (look it up. it's yucky). We all want easier lives. Even the one who's on Easy Street wants an easier life. This is a small way to make yours easier! I don't have to go next door anymore to have my neighbor open my spaghetti sauce or salsa! I love it!!!

Works fine. We are retired senior citizens without a lot of hand strength. This opener has bigger jaws than cheaper versions. Jaws also have “teeth”. To grip the lid better. Would have been better is the jaws would open beyond 3.5 inches.
