Ordered after I saw my massage therapist with one. I would go as far as to say this is a life-changing product. My only note is while the directions say it can be warmed directly from freezer storage, it does not get as warm as I would like with the standard 2 minute microwaving time. To avoid damaging the product, I've resolved this by removing it from the freezer ~30 minutes before putting it in the microwave for heat therapy. I thought about putting it in the microwave for a longer time, but since that is not mentioned in the directions, and I want to keep this in tip-top shape, I figured letting it get closer to room temperature before microwaving is a sustainable solution.I've used it cold on swollen and tender pectorals after an especially intense massage therapy session. After chugging water and wearing the shoulder wrap frontwards and backwards until it reached room temperature, my muscles were no longer "angry." Overall I am very pleased with my neck and shoulder wrap--it has exceptional quality and I would go even further and say it is not only physically therapeutic but mentally therapeutic as well.I've taken to using it for heat therapy every night before bed--being sure to have a layer of clothing between the wrap and my bare skin. It's like a lullaby for my muscles and allows me to let go of the day, focus on the comfort, and gently slip into a wonderful night's sleep.

I bought this heating pad at the suggestion of a co-worker and it's okay, nothing spectacular. I find it heats unevenly and doesn't stay warm more than 5 minutes. After seeing all the negative reviews and photos of burnt rice, I am hesitant to use it again. As for the weight, I find it a bit too heavy to be comfortable for more than a few minutes. The covering is soft and I haven't found it to have a smell even after microwaving.Not sure how other reviewers are getting a moist heat from this, as the instructions state not to submerge in water. Or for that matter how to use it to cool down, it's designed (according to the manufacturer) for heat therapy.Would I buy it again? No. Would I recommend it to a friend? No.

I used to love this until I warmed it up one day and some of the rice caught on fire. There is now a huge hole in it and now has to be thrown away. I've used it a few times over the last three weeks, but I didn't expect to pay $23 to use it a handful of times.

My wife has an elaborate Electric shoulder massage/heater. It cannot compete with this Amazon shoulder heater that heats in the microwave. I can pop it in the microwave for two minutes and it gives me about 30 minutes of warmth. I can place it underneath a fleece pull over and zip up the pull over and it forces the pressure on the heating pad to provide a wonderful sensation of “deep” muscle warmth. I had to re-order a second one because I had mistakenly put the original one in the washing machine and ruined it. I am 69 years old and I do a lot of resistance training with my back and shoulders using “The Total Gym”, advertised by the martial artist, Chuck Norris. It’s sooths my sore shoulder muscles when I have waited three days to exercise and then I tax my “senior citizen” muscles to the point of soreness. This heating pad is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Don’t make a mistake like me and put it in your laundry bag by mistake and ruin it by washing. The instructions clearly state do not wash in a machine.

I am so happy I finally found something to help my neck and shoulders. This gets so warm in the microwave and stays warm about 15-20 minutes. It is great for very tense or stiff muscles. Another great benefit to this product is that it is weighted so I do not have to hold it down. I love being able to use this in the morning when my neck and shoulders are really stiff and I also love using it at night before bed. I love being able to walk around with it also.

I'VE HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH A WEAKENED NECK, SHOULDER, UPPER BACK AREAS. I'VE HAD HEADACHES AND OTHER PAINS ALL THE WAY FROM MY SHOULDERS TO MY HANDS. THIS PRODUCT HAS RELIEVED THESE. IT IS A TOUCH HEAVY, BUT WELL WORTH THE MINOR DISCOMFORT. I PARTICULARLY APPRECIATE THE SHORT WARMING TIME OF 90 SECONDS. I USE IT BEFORE MY EXERCISE SESSIONS, AND/OR AFTERWARD. THE HEAT LASTS ABOUT 30 MINUTES, BUT THE WARMTH OF THE BRACE TO THE NECK AND BACK AREAS CONTINUES TO WORK UNTIL THE WEIGHT BECOMES TOO MUCH.

Great to relieve tight trap and shoulder muscles, but it doesn’t get as warm as we would like. The instructions only say to put it in the microwave for 90 seconds, and it does get warm, but doesn’t get or stay as warm as say a heating pad. This being said the weight of it keeps it in place and you hardly have to readjust it once it’s in place. When it cools down just throw it back in the microwave and go for round 2 if your muscles are still tight!

The weight felt nice on my shoulders and that alone provided some help with tight muscles. Fits very nice around the neck. I used cold and hot. It does not get as cold as some other ice packs that are not "natural". After 10-15 minutes it returns to room temperature. It held heat a little longer, but not much. It was well made. I think it's enough to help if you are just achey but not when you are in pain.

I have trapped nerves in my neck and a frozen should (a wreck basically!!) and needed something to help with the pain.Saw this advertised and read various reviews, mainly good and thought I'd get one to try.Firstly, it's heavy but that makes it more comforting around the neck, also the pressure helps relieve muscle tension.Secondly, pop the item in the microwave for about 90 secs and then importantly refold it and pop it back for another 30 secs or so, that way you ensure it's evenly hot all over.Thirdly, drape around neck and shoulders and relax.I would have given 5 stars if only it stayed warmer for longer than 20 to 30 mins, but that isn't a problem because you can easily reheat.Overall, I would definitely recommend this heated wrap because it does help and is so comfortable.

Too big and bulky to absorb enough heat in the microwave. It states to pop in the microwave 2-3 mins. I did 5 mins and no way enough heat. To make matters worse it's no returns! I did message Amazon however, and they refunded my money. The item then went in the bin.

Although this heat pad is on the heavy side, I actually find it rather comforting. It fits snugly round my neck and shoulders and offers relieve from neck and shoulder pain. I am currently waiting for an op on my shoulder and have two slip discs in my neck and I feel like I pop pills constantly, I bought this in the hope of reducing the amount of medication I take. Although it doesn't take away the pain, it eases the discomfort considerably and allows for longer periods between medication. I also add lavender oil to the pad making for a more effective treatment. I would recommend as it has given me a relatively good night sleep for the first time in over a year!

I can only review on short term use but so far I think it is absolutely brilliant. I have a long term health condition which affects my neck and shoulders and this pad provides heat in exactly the right places. Having read reviews I was a bit concerned as to whether the weight would be a problem but so far there is no issue at all, in fact I think it may help to correct my posture which can only improve my condition in the long term. I would definitely recommend.

This is way too heavy - used it once and shoulder pain was worse than before; tried to return but was informed the product is not eligible for return, no idea why - that is £20 wasted then.
