very handy and affordable!
The item was delivered on time, well-packaged, and got the newer version (as compared to what is advertised). Works perfectfly fine. This has been my calculator in the past two decades. :) always trusted Casio!

Excellent bold high-contrast display; did not receive version shown in listing
As other reviewers have said, the product is NOT the version shown in the listing. Instead it is the 'second edition', which is rectangular and looks identical to the fx-300MS. Having said that, I'm very pleased with the clear, bold display with excellent contrast - a critical feature for me since I am rarely sitting at a desk when I use my calculator. This is a MASSIVE improvement over the full-screen dot-matrix display on the fx-115ES I purchased last year, which not only had very poor contrast no matter how I adjusted the display but numbers were also way too skinny for their size. In case you didn't know (I didn't until recently), MS-series calculators seem to all use a nice, bold 2-line display with 5x7 dot matrix groups at the top and conventional segments at the bottom, while ES series calculators have the full-screen dot matrix. Maybe some MS series displays are lower quality and some ES series displays are higher quality, but my gut tells me you'll get far better legibility if you go with an MS. I am already very familiar with the key layout and navigation of a Casio scientific calculator, having used an fx-115MS for about twenty years followed by an fx-115ES. I don't know how these compare to something like a TI, but I can say that I appreciate the easy access to trig functions, variables, and the ability type in whole formulas rather than piece together a bunch of simple calculations. Powers, roots, and PI are also easily accessible, and there is a random number generator which can occasionally be handy (though I've never tested its quality). I don't know enough to comment on more advanced functionality/higher math.
