Donna Summer: 40th Anniversary Edition

Been reminiscing of teenage years. Had to buy this to blast out on my retro player. Good quality and packaged well, will start buying my albums from here more often

Is it really over 40 years since this album was first released? After a long and very successful run with producer Giorgio Moroder Donna was paired with the legendary Quincy Jones. This resulted in a different sound and a slight change of direction for Donna. Love Is In Control, The Woman In Me & The State of Independence" are the stand out tracks for me and they stand up well 4 decades later. This release includes 7 additional bonus tracks that comprise of remixes and 7" single edits. An extended essay is included in the hardback mini booklet that houses the disc. A worthy tribute to a terrific artist who is very much missed.

This was the album that Quincy Jones produced immediately before Thriller. It's a great album with classic singles Love Is in Control and State of Independence among the best Donna ever recorded. B side Sometimes like Butterflies originally recorded by Dusty Springfield is an absolute joy whilst Lush Life is proof that Summer was so much more than the Queen of Disco. What a voice

Love the original album and this deluxe reissue is a huge treat. Love the presentation of it. Extra tracks are always a bonus... I have all 3 in this collection. Great price delivered fast. Happy dancer in Bolton.

Good 40th anniversary cd from the queen of disco

Donna Summer self title album produced by Quincy Jones is hard to believe it has been 40 years when her new sound from her top 10 single "Love is in Control" was on the radio. In 1982 Donna was trying different music styles and Quincy Jones found it for her. Her cover from "State of Independence" with some top artists as Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Kenny Loggins just to mention few of them as Chorus is Amazing and the rock oriented song "Protection" by Bruce Springsteen show the diversity from this album. This 40th anniversary deluxe issued came with a nice book plus a new fresh Remix from her song "Mystery of Love" that it should have been a single back then...Recommended!

L'album "Donna Summer", uscito nell'estate di 41 anni fa, ritorna in questa versione celebrativa, in formato libro con un saggio e tante foto dalla cover session a opera di David Alexander. All'epoca non aveva convinto tutti i fans di Donna, e qualcuno ancora oggi crede che fosse più un'operazione del produttore che della cantante. Però questa nuova proposta, arricchita da single edits ed extended version, ci permette di riscoprire brani cantati superbamente e suonati/accompagnati da un vero Gotha di artisti Usa (leggere i credits per farsi un'idea) e poi ci regala pure 2 remixes del dj Flex, che ha saputo reinventare il brano Mystery Of Love e renderlo più pulsante e ballabile, introducendolo all'attenzione di nuove generazioni di amanti della musica "estiva". Consigliato.

Como fan de Donna Summer, y a pesar de tener el disco en vinilo y el CD, no he podido resistirme a esta nueva edición con esa bonita presentación. Eso sí, me hubiera gustado que trajera más remixes.
