I have long made what my family calls "water-tea", basically using flavors to make water taste more interesting (for example, mix in a splash of Tejava tea, or put two bags of Celestial Seasoning's Peach teach in a half-gallon/2-liter pitcher and cold brew). Recently started using small amounts of rootbeer extract (Hires is my favorite so far, about 1/8 teaspoon per half-gallon). I liked that so much that I started experimenting with other flavors, which brings me to the topic of this review. I tried the cherry version of both Flavor Essence and Brewer's Best Natural.I should mention one convenient thing about Flavor Essence, is the built-in drop dispenser, which makes it easier to measure the amount of flavoring I use. I still have not found the best ratio for Brewer's, and consequently don't like it as well as Flavor Essence. I have nailed down the ratios I like for Flavor Essence. My preferred ratio is more of a curvy line, than a single sweet-spot. Anywhere between 4-6 drops in a 32-ounce (1-liter) glass gives me a nice light flavoring, which is quite refreshing. At this strength, the flavor is noticeably weaker than commercial brands like Hint. I have done less experimenting with stronger flavors, but somewhere around 15 drops I found a stronger flavor that I liked. But inbetween that; the flavor was not that good, either kind of a washed out not-quite-flavor or strange tasting. My take home conclusion - be prepared to experiment with ratios to find what you like, and don't be discouraged by off tastes for some of the ratios.I am quite happy with the Flavor Essence black cherry. Though I now have less guests than before Covid, it has been well received by my socially distanced visitors. If I ever start working back in an office, it will be quite convenient (between no need to refrigerate, and the built-in dropper) to have this bottle of flavoring on hand to make ordinary water more interesting.

I bought this to use in Seltzer water or to enhance the cherry flavor in other items. Taste right out of the bottom is a little sharp but blended into a liquid it works just fine. This particular flavor is difficult to find in local stores so I must buy online. I would buy again unless I found it cheaper somewhere else.

I purchased this to make a healthy cherry soda using club soda and stevia and it's wonderful.The Sweet Cherry aroma is unbelievable. When I smell the Cherry flavoring in the bottle I can almost taste it. Every time I smell it it reminds me of a cherry now and laters.The flavor is incredible and only takes a small amount. It is quite strong which means it will last. It doesn't have the smell or taste of alcohol.I put a small squirt in the bottom of my glass then fill it with club soda. I also use a packet of true lemon or you could add a squirt of lemon juice. The citric acid helps bring out the flavor.I haven't used this in any cooking or deserts but as a beverage flavoring it's the best black cherry flavoring I found yet. I also purchased a creme brulee flavoring from flavor essence and it was incredible as well.These are by far the best flavorings I found for making beverages.

I bought this to add to sparkling water and by the time I add enough to get a "Cherry" flavor it also has a weird chemical aftertaste. It may be great for candy and cooking, or with a sugar additive, but on its own it was a disappointment.

Love cherry cokes and was hoping to flavor my sugar free Zevia colas with this flavoring. Had high hopes. It did not work out.

I was expecting a much better tasting and concentrated product. I tried it first in a bottle of plain water and was very disappointed how much product I had to use to get any decent flavoring. I really didn’t like the flavor and I love black cherry flavored products.

Living keto and loving keto bakes, shakes, etc., means finding flavor additions the sensible way. Ordered and received this black cherry in a timely fashion along with generous notes, tips, ideas on blends, etc. Long story short, we all absolutely love FlavorEssence! Not an extract, yet it acts very much like one. For instance, in my keto scones, I added six drops and a small squeeze just as a first test then sampled the batter to see if it was to my taste. Got it right! This amount barely made a dent in the bottle. My family scarfed the scones down fast enough and they are as picky as I am when it comes to bakes and flavors! Outstanding product! Ordered 20 associated flavors directly from their website because they had just added 2 or 3 new flavors not yet listed on Amazon. Great pricing on volume orders, too. Absolutely love their products!

The cherry flavor was a bit different than what I was expecting, but still good.It took about 20 drops to adequetely flavor a 1 liter bottle.I've had problems with other brand of extracts smelling great but having little to no actual flavor, I'm curious to try their others to see if better than ones from like Olive Nation.
