Washing dishes mainly. They are thick enough to use for handling hot dishes (e.g., from microwave), but thin enough to allow finger dexterity--not as thin as nitrile gloves. They are also easy to slip on and off--an important time-saver.

I used to regularly use Large-size Playtex gloves for cleaning. These gloves fit much smaller, more like a medium, so they are very difficult to remove once you squeeze your hand inside. Also, they are not very long -- they extend only an inch or two beyond the wrist, rather than halfway up the forearm as Playtex gloves used to. If you buy this glove anyway, buy one size bigger than your usual size.
