The Hallo-Wiener

I used this book in pediatric speech therapy for 20 years. It’s a really fun and entertaining book with a message of kindness that we surely can use. Little Oscar wears the costume his mother makes for him so as not to hurt her feelings although he is chagrined to do so. He does the right thing even though his friends were not nice to him. Oscar is recognized as the hero of the day at the end. I am retired and had given my book away but I miss reading it at Halloween so bought another copy. It’s a keeper.

It's one of my favorite books I read with my children and as soon as I have grandchildren, I'll read it to them.

I read this book to my daughter when she was little and of all her books this was one I kept. My daughter is a girl mom now and I read this to my 3 year old granddaughter while she was here visiting, she to loved this book and wanted it read to her every night. Once they returned home my granddaughter wanted her mom to read it to her, so of course Gigi had to order one for her story times! Cute story about bullying with a very happy ending!

I have purchased a dozen copies of this book for gifts. I have a dachshund so that’s how it interested me. But the story is so good and a great lesson in bullying.

I read this to my 2nd graders. They loved it! We did a writing activity of what they thought Oscar should wear for a costume and a craft showing the problem and solution of the story.

My little brother and my mom have a special bond with this book. So glad I could order him a copy! Just as good as I remembered!

Super cute Halloween story!

This story is so cute, especially for elementary age students. It is not the sturdiest paper back book, but would keep its condition for family reading. I repeatedly read this book to students for a week and it did wear a bit, but for families who would read this at home it will definitely work.

So happy with this purchase! Very cute book and illustrations. Perfect for any dachshund lover or anyone who appreciates the message- that it's ok to be different and actually a good thing!

Great short story. My son is a Dav Pilkey fan so enjoys all of this authors books. My son is 6.
