A good quality product for home security
I chose the wired version because I didn't want to constantly change or recharge a battery. I also believe that lithium batteries are unsustainable for the environment so I only use them when it is feasible. The wired connection for this camera is one of kind and I didn't see it for other competitive cameras. The RIng camera is very powerful and to use all of its functions effortlessly I would recommend that you not use the battery design. For installation I thought about cutting the plug off and drilling a small hole through the trim to get the wire into the garage, but I changed my mind. You never know if there are filters or other functions in the plug that support the camera. Instead, I ran the wire on the outside to the corner and then fed it between the weather stripping to get it inside. This was a very quick install and left the camera intact as designed. You can see it in the picture attached. I bought the chime pro with my ring doorbell so I connected through that. You have to reboot the chime pro and re-add every device. Once that is done it works fine. Sometime the picture and live function is slow to see on the phone. I blame this on Comcast for throttling the speed on my connection. We should never have removed net neutrality. The consumer got screwed on this change. My recommendation to Ring is to add a 7 day storage of images on the device so the access locally is very fast. The cloud storage just slows everything down, but works fine when I am traveling. The image, audio, lights, alarm, and speaker work very well. Ring made a really good product and their advertising is very truth full. Nice to see this in business. It connected easily to my Wink home security. I want to use the motion alert from the camera to turn on other lights through the Zplus network for dimmers. This will be fun to implement once I receive the dimmers. I chose Leviton switches.

Ring Spotlight Cam works great and is backed by outstanding customer service
My Ring journey started with the original Ring Video Doorbell, which was replaced with the Ring Video Doorbell 2 and I am still using it. I wanted another camera for my driveway and purchased the Ring Spotlight Cam. I immediately fell in love with this gadget. The RVD2 is a great product, but there are some limitations with it, mainly where you can install it. The Spotlight Cam can be installed wherever I want and the picture quality is amazing. I've had to play around with the motion zones and sensitivity to get it just right because it picked up cars and people walking at first. Now, I only get alerts when something hits one of my zones and it connects immediately. The LED lights kick on when it detects motion so that makes me family feel more secure at night when they come home, but also to keep unwanted people from snooping around our cars. I loved my first Spotlight Cam so much I just recently added one to the backyard. Installation was a little more challenging because I had to run the power cable along the wall, but Ring provided anchors for that. I had to be a little more creative with the motion zones so that it didn't trigger when my neighbor pulled in his driveway, or my kids were jumping on the trampoline or swimming in the pool. Once again, the custom motion zones saved the day. I have other motion lights that sometimes kick on for no reason and that has caused my Spotlight Cam to activate, but I plan on removing them and relocating them somewhere else since the Spotlight Cam illuminates the area effectively. I would recommend a Chime Pro to help your WiFi reach outside, but that might not matter depending on what type of router you are using. I find that my driveway one is hit or miss without it, but the backyard is fine. Overall, this is a solid product and Ring's amazing customer service and monthly fees are better than the competition. Highly recommend.

Just in time!
The media could not be loaded. Less than 3 weeks after I installed a flood light Ring cam over my driveway, i caught this guy breaking into my backyard. He first tried the front door handle, other side of house, then finally broke into my gate. If i did not have the cam, i would not have know he was in my backyard...probably checking my back doors and not sure what could have happened if he got in. I was home alone with my son who had just fallen asleep. Police took him in cuffs and ended up releasing him 2 hours later. That night he tried breaking into 4 more places...one he succeeded and a man chased him out of the house. I ordered a cam for the front door the next day and a big bike lock for the front gate. I feel safer now, but still scared at night...can't believe it and can't believe i was lucky enough to have gotten the Ring cam for Christmas and installed it just in time.Pros and cons...Pros - what i wrote above. easy to use, easy to install. Can put it on all my devices, i can ask my Alexa Show to show me driveway or show me front door and it pops right up. I have an apple watch and it pings when there is movement at either location. You have immediate access to all the video posts that people in a 5+ mile radius share. You can also share your own in this community as well as being able to email/text/facebook etc. your video/pic to friends or neighbors. Ring also allows you to share this Ring community app with friends for free, so even though they don't have a ring, they can see the posts of those who do. I was surprised at how many in my neighborhood have the Ring.Cons - the reception out to the driveway is not great. 20 feet is not far and i think it should come with some type of booster built-in. Video comes through, but sometimes a pause here and there...and also, when i speak through it to the driveway cam, it stutters, not legible. (front door spotlight cam is closer and better reception). The Ring posts do not get relayed to police. I think this should become automatic. When there are multiple posts of the same person steeling/breaking-in, doesn't it seem like common sense for Ring to notify police of this.Wish list:Wish i could see both cams on the screen at one time. In turn, if i added 1 or 2 more, it would be great to see them all live at the same time like a regular surveillance system.Wish someone could monitor the videos and set off the alarm when i am not able to.I would definitely recommend the Ring spot light cam and the flood light cam. They both have a wide range and light up to cover a good amount of area...also night time vision. The doorbell ring - the focus is a small area...you cannot see the ground where packages may be placed for instance. I returned this version and i'm happy with the two i have. I hope this helps.
