Sturdy tools (but can’t be used on non-stick surfaces)
I had my old go-to brands of things I thought I could never replace before I discovered OXO. For example I had a potato peeler that was similar to a 1930’s Heuck Marvel Peeler which is triangular in shape, and I was never able to replicate the way it kept my hands non-fatigued or the way it took off skins with the peeler blade moving slightly to just take off a thin layer of skin without the blade spinning around. … That is until I found the OXO peeler. I then bought the OXO for all of my family members who had been using the old style peeler and they absolutely loved it. We all like the ease of use, sharpness of the blade, and how comfortable and fast it is to peel withI ordered this set so I would have a backup for my peeler and because I needed a new balloon hand whisk. My old one had a coating over the wire and was beginning to flake apart. I am somewhat glad that this has no coating, that way you don’t get little pieces into your food as time goes by and I wears out. However, this also means that it is not non-stick pan safe. I do like the sturdiness to this pice and how comfortable it is to hold and use.I have mixed feelings about the tongs. I wanted a second pair.l I already own a Calphalon pair and they open exactly backwards from these (this one you push the little end cap in to open them and my old ones you pull out). I will say that the end of this feels thin and kind of cheap, as if it could break if you push or pull too hard. I do like that there is a little hold in the end if you want to hang them off of a grill hook or something. The tongs open and close with easy and there is a covering that extends from the handle to about halfway on the tongs so that you don’t burn your hands. The tongs line up nicely and are easy to grab food with. They also have a ridged design to aid in food pickup. There is no silicone on the end like my old pair so again, these are not safe for non-stick.I don’t use a hand masher all that often, but this one feels very sturdy. It gets potatoes mashed more quickly and evenly then my old hand masher, and is comfortable to grip.I feel like all of these products are well thought out. They are all comfortable to use and easy to clean. These may cost a little more than your basic products, but they are easier to use and will last a lot longer, so in the end these are a better value. I’d buy this set as a gift or to treat yourself if you have cheaper kitchen tools!

Sturdy and functional
This is an all-around functional kitchen utensil set. The handles are a bit thick for my small hands, but not too uncomfortable or difficult to hold; they're easy to grip. The peeler is sharp, the potato masher is sturdy and does the job, and the tongs stay closed in their locked position. They wash up well in the dishwasher. The only one I haven't tried yet is the whisk, but it definitely feels balanced and sturdy enough to hold up to most whisking. This set seems a little expensive for what's in it, but the pieces feel like they'll last for a long time. Overall, I'm happy with this set.

Always well designed tools
I’ve always been a fan of Oxo gadgets. There’s been some drawbacks but most of their stuff is great. This set of kitchen tools is no exception. You can even find reviews of these tools on sites such as America’s Test Kitchen - peeler and tongs. (I personally also recommend the snap lock can opener.)The whisk seems a bit big but worked fine for mixing a pan of broth, tomato paste, and butter. The grip is very comfortable compared to a straight metal handle. It would only be better if the wires were silicone coated. The tongs are pretty standard. While I like the rubber/silicone covered sides, I do worry the will wear over time. The locking mechanism is easy to use (my other tongs have some resistance when pulling the lock spring). They worked fine for grabbing roasted chicken thighs from a pan. I tried using these with spaghetti noodles and don’t recommend it. The shape of tongs can’t grip a lot of noodles, not Oxo’s fault.Like other things, adding a nylon or silicone coating would make this perfect because then I could use them on my non-stick and enamel cookware. The peeler is great. I still also have an older Oxo peeler that looks like new. The indented grips at the sides make it better for holding along with the non-slipping rubber coating. I like that they’ve updated it by slimming it down just a tad since I have smaller hands. This is the first potato masher I’ve ever used. In the past it’s been a pastry mixer or a fork. I will never go back! The masher has thick, solid more that very quickly breaks up the potatoes. The rubber handle makes it easy to grip. I can’t believe how much faster this is with a masher.

You’re paying for longevity, sturdiness, and overall quality
Unboxing: 5/5Unboxing was simple and great, each tool was wrapped individually, and they were in an Oxo branded box.Looks: 5/5These tools look great. The finish on the handles is great and consistent, and the metal is a beautiful stainless steel.Quality / Durability: 5/5Here’s where the tools shine. They won’t scratch, they won’t rust, and they won’t break. I was upgrading from a cheap tool set before, and just from comparing the two I knew the Oxo set would last me multiple years at the minimum. They don’t bend as easily, or break, or show any signs of rushing at all.Function: 5/5These tools are super comfortable to hold, each one of them, but I’ve been using the whisk and the tongs the most, which have been holding up great under a lot of use. The peeler and masher are useful and great quality.Value (for the listed price): 5/5Overall: 5/5
