This is the best tool for larger apples. It slices all the way through the apple. It is very easy to clean and a great value for the money.

Most of my apples are not perfect apples. They tilt. So managing to "install" the apple on the device in order to make vertical cuts can be tricky. The side guides help. Also, these blades are wickedly sharp. Be careful, and I don't recommend that you let children help with this chore. Pay attention to the included instruction that shows you how best to position your own hands so that you don't slam your knuckles or fingers when you push down on it. It does a good job of separating the core, but, again, you have to align your apple perfectly vertically, which can be a chore. I like this unit overall.
