Solid copper and works perfectly.
This is an amazing copper plate. Works perfectly on my gas stove. Does exactly what it says it will do an is pretty heavy.

Meh
It is very thin and doesn't seem to help a lot with diffusing heat. It also gives off smoke at anything other than a low heat, so I haven't wound up using it much, even though it was very expensive.
