This iron seems to produce the steam a couple of seconds after you've pressed the button, instead of as you press the button, which is not ideal?

Sadly yes this seems to be the case but this is less prevalent when taking it out of autosense and just having it at maximum. Also, it does say in the instructions that prior to ironing the fabric you should first vent/steam away from the garment and only use short bursts on the steam button. I have found that doing this does to a degree alleviate the lack of steam and water marks quite a bit.

The steam doesn't seem to stop when you take you finger off the steam button? Is this how it's suppose to be? Seems a bit dangerous?

Hiya, oh right yes that does seem dangerous if it doesn’t stop, I don’t think it’s supposed to do that. When I press the button on mine it gives a fast burst of steam and stops, so maybe your one is faulty?
