SakkasBatik Palm Tree Cap Sleeve Caftan Dress/Cover Up

I was afraid to order this dress, figuring it was probably junk at the price offered. But after reading the reviews decided to try it. Its beautiful! I am 5'2" and not exactly slim and have never worn this style of dress before so was afraid it would really make me look dumpy. Surprise! It is very flattering. The length is not quite to my ankles in the back, a little shorter in the front and even shorter at the sides so it doesn't look like a maxi dress. It flows over my figure and hides all the imperfections and actually makes me look thinner. I'm pretty busty and there's plenty of room, the arm holes are plenty big enough, in fact I'm going to take a small tuck under each arm to make it a little smaller so my bra and slip won't show.You will need to wear a slip underneath. I bought black so even though it's sheer it isn't extremely see-through.The flutter sleeves are very pretty and big enough for someone with big arms. I only gave it four stars because I haven't washed it yet. I don't know how it will hold up but I'm going to wash it in cold water on the delicate cycle and hang dry it.I love it so far. I'm over sixty and this dress is not too young looking. I think anyone of any age (or weight) could wear it.

I am over 50 and don't like to show my arms, but I live in Texas so I need hot weather clothes. I grew up wearing floaty sundresses, but haven't for the last several years because only the sleeveless ones are made of cotton - and they show me "summer sweaters" or "shrugs" to wear with them. I have suggested where store buyers for Texas can stow their summer sweaters: California! Where it cools down at night!.Short story long, I discovered Sakkas last year and am absolutely thrilled. I wear sleeveless ones at home and to the beach / pool, and sleeved ones everywhere else. They have a shape, so you don't look like you're wearing a sack, and they swirl when you walk, so you feel pretty. I get compliments every time I wear one.They can be a bit thin, so I can wear only the darker-colored ones without a slip if I'm going somewhere nice. This red one is the most see-through one I wear in public. The drawbacks are: the embroidery can pull, so I recommend stitching any loose ends before you wear, or you can lose a whole area of stitching, and they aren't available with sleeves in more styles. But there are styles, I love them, and I can't recommend them strongly enough - if you don't live in my neighborhood so we don't look like twins!

I love everything about this dress, it's color, fit and style, very complementary. The cap sleeves are a beautiful sheer material with embroidering and splashes of the tan color. The neckline is very nice, the tan accents are the color of my skin which I think looks gorgeous. It's like a silk thread that outlines the designs. It's somewhat sheer which I love wearing around the house especially on hot days. I would put on underwear if I had company or going next door.Like all of these gauze type dresses, they need to be hand washed and line dried, which is quick and easy, the first wash always has extra color bleeding. The darker color of this dress was also staining to my sink and hands which cleaned up easily, I would suggest washing in a bucket outside for the first time.I have at least 6 of these gauze type Sakkas dresses and love them all, each is different in style and colors. I did have to return one, without any hassle, because it was too tight around the arm holes. I wear them as a house dress and feel very elegant in them. Problem for me is that they are so comfortable I dread to have to wear anything else!

Very pretty dress. I have several from this company. A hint to keep the dress nice longer is to set the color with vinegar and to wash the dress in a garment bag. This prevents the embroidery from unraveling. Hang to dry. They do bleed so wash separately or with like colors. They will hold up a long time if you treat the dress with care. The dress was delivered very quickly. I wear them around my house all the time and to pool parties. Unlike other reviews I did not feel that it added bulk to my body as the fabric is very light weight. I am 5'6" and the length is perfect. Maybe not so for shorter people. It would go from mid length to ankle length. I gave the dress a 4 star only because the material bleeds and has to have special care to keep it nice.

I ordered two of these in different colors and somewhat different styles - one was sleeveless and a darker color.I really did not expect to like them because they are not the kind of thing I every wear. I am not a "dressy kind of lady."I mostly wear workout clothes and usually go to the beach or boating with swimsuit and t-shirt or button shirt. BUT, I am going to be spending several weeks at a very fancy resort in Mexico and will be walking long distances through lobbies and shops going to and from the pools, beach and other activities so I thought I would see if I could wear these, expecting to look a bit ridiculous and overdone. .like a parade float! I was very pleasantly surprised! They are quite cute on and quite flattering… when I tried them on, they actually look like the picture!!I will know more after going out in public in one!

I purchased this dress to wear in Hawaii on vacation and absolutely love it. It looks just like the photo. I wore it as a dress, not a beach cover-up, for which I recommend wearing a slip of some sort underneath.The dress has a perfect weight to it so it hangs beautifully and flows nicely when you walk - never felt like it was tangling around my legs. The stitching is nice. Upon close examination, the cap sleeves are made out of a slightly different material which matches nicely and adds a little something extra. I am 5'3, and the longest part of the dress came close to touching the ground in flat shoes...but not quite. The size is generous and should fit most anyone. I'm a size 12 and had lots of room. In fact, it was so comfortable I wanted to wear EVERY DAY! It is a hand wash item, and the color bled a lot when I washed it, but the dress didn't seem faded afterward. You will like this dress!!

Batik Palm Tree Cap Sleeve Caftan Dress -- eggplant colour. It's a lovely dress. Very cool and pretty for the summer. The reason I deducted a star was because the dye is excessive. I did expect some dye to bleed out, so I soaked it in a vinegar/water solution to set the dye into the fabric as much as possible; which worked, as the colour didn't fade at all after washing with Woolite in cold water on delicate setting. However, it took 8 wash cycles.. .that's 16 times that the washing machine had filled with fresh water.. .before the wash water stopped being inky dark purple. It still bled colour into the water, but at least the water wasn't opaque anymore. My washing machine tub and agitator are now stained with a couple of dark purple rings. None of the other Sakkas dresses that I bought was this bad. Other than that, I love the look of the dress.

I'm a uk size 14, 5'7 and nine months pregnant and its still a tent :DI bought it deliberately to be oversized, I love baggy stuff and from the description it's not surprising it's very flowy - the thing that surprised me was the length. It's longer at the front and back than the sides but on me at five foot seven it goes down to almost ankle length front and back so it might be a little long on a petite person.Got lots of compliments though, it's a nice print and lovely comfy dress

The Dress fits and looks really nice but found sand ( sand from beach) in dress pockets this makes me wonder if it has been worn by someone else before. I would appreciate a response from you please.kind regardsKornelia

The fit is exactly as expected - very roomy, which is excellent around the house in warm weather over my nightie instead of a dressing gown. I'm five feet five and the longest part is ankle length so it's a bit tricky up and down the stairs. I ordered the palm tree pattern in black and white. The kaftan I received, although in black and white, is definitely not a palm tree design. Having said that, I much prefer it so happy accident.
