Scottish Clan and Family Names: Their Arms, Origins and Tartans

My niece and her husband have been searching for Scottish ancestors. This book and the other info I ordered on Scottish families has been wonderfully informative for them. Thank you!

It's a good book. Unfortunately, I was hoping to get all of the plaids through the years of all the different clans, but it is a good book, telling of the clan's tartan, their arms, and, as the title says, origins. The book came in okay condition, the cover being dogeared in some places, but it was readable, and that's what I was after.

I am enjoying learning more about my Scot roots. This book showed not only the tartens but where the clan was from.

My family is supposed to have originated in Scotland but having a hard time finding them. But I won't give up.

Nice short introductory background into the clans of Scotland. not all inclusive, but a good place to start.

good read if you have a interest in Scotland and history, or from a scotish family this is a good read.

Wow, our clans were more hierarchy than anything. I didn't know that. And tartans simply the way a family wove there material.

This is a good introduction to the Clan and Tartans of Scotland and whereas not all families are mentioned in their own entity you can find the links between the larger Clans that you may have been swallowed up into over the generations..
