Kharma Khare Legacy Reincarnated Non Slip Eco Friendly Yoga Mat (7 Mm - Black)

I have had this mat for over a year. I alternate between this a Jade Harmony and an Original Eco Yoga Mat (the one with jute and natural rubber). When starting a yoga class and still dry (as I usually sweat a lot) the Kharma Khare often feels a bit slippery on my hands. A couple of times I used chalk for down dog as my hands were moving. The Kharma Khare usually has great grip once I start to sweat, however even then I find sometimes it is hard to maintain a consistent grip in wheel or down dog. I think it needs some surface pattern for increased traction and not just rely on the moisture absorbing characteristics of the material. I also find that it tends to move around on the floor during power yoga. More than my other mats. It also tends to stretch more in warrior 1 or 2, which I attribute to the lack of a scrim, as it is just a chunk of rubber.I do not mind carrying this heavy mat around, although I had to get another carrying strap as it is very large when rolled up. I wonder if their latex hybrid model works better dry or moves less on the floor.Of the 3 my favorite is the Original Eco Mat for its tenacious grip dry or wet and no slip on any flooring and lack of stretch.

I really had HIGH hopes for this yoga mat. I was looking for a great cushy, sticky mat. I'm a guy on the bigger side, 6'2, 200 lbs so this mat seemed like it had great potential. I also liked the idea of it being made from recycled tires. Not sure if I just got a bad unit or if they all deteriorate like this. Either way, to receive it in the condition that it arrived in (see pictures) doesn't give me confidence that the next one will be any better or have longevity. The mat looked like old, dried out rubber and was torn and crumbling on both ends.Just to qualify, this isn't my first "rodeo", I've been doing different yoga styles for about 10 years now. My previous mat was a Jade Yoga Fusion mat, nice and thick (5/16 in) and plenty long (74"), accidentally left it in the sun and it lost its sticky nature, figured I would try another brand even though I was relatively happy with that one. I think I'll check out the Prana Revolution Mat, the reviews look good. Would like to think this mat I received was an anomaly and Kharma Khare puts out a better quality mat than this. Unfortunately, I had to return and look elsewhere.

This is a beast of a Yoga mat. Not anything like the smaller squishy mats I've used in the past. This one give you a solid yet comfortable foundation to work out on. On carpeting it gives me more balance by providing a firmer surface. And on my ceramic tile floors, it gives me a softer (yet still firm) platform to stand on. On both surfaces it lies smooth and flat.It's large too, so even those who are tall can get use this mat. I'm 5'6" and there's more than enough room for me on it. So it would work great for those who are taller/longer. Being a big thick mat, it has some weight to it. So If you're planning on taking this with you to yoga classes, you'll get a bit of a workout just getting it there. Because of this I like it best for in-home use.It gets it's dark color and firm design from being made with 100% recycled rubber tires. So not only are you getting a beast of a yoga mat, you are also recycling in the process, saving a tire from sitting in a landfill somewhere. Such an awesome mat!Sample provided for review

Don't BUY!!!! These mats are a gimmick. I ordered 2 of them and they both came flakey and cracked. Will not last threw one sesh.

I am surprised that I hadn't already reviewed this mat. I received it is a gift awhile back (probably at least 8 years ago). At the time, I had several other yoga mats that I preferred, so I put this one aside and didn't really use it. I recently decided to pull it back out and give it another try. The biggest selling point of this mat is that it is made from recycled tires; love that! At 7mm, this is a thicker mat than I normally prefer, but it has decent density, which helps. I have found that neither my feet nor my hands (e.g., in down dog) slip on this mat. One issue is that it is quite heavy, so I wouldn't suggest this mat for travel/taking to the yoga studio. For home use, particularly for those who want a thicker, eco-friendly alternative, I would recommend this mat.

I bought a Kharma Khare Reincarnated mat last year and have been so pleased with it. Kharma Khare's ethics and commitment to the environment is apparent in its products and the process to make the mat itself. I have been mostly using my mat in some very sweaty intense vinyasa-style classes and also occasional Bikram classes. The mat holds its own quite well in the heat. It's grippy and non-slipping, which is super important when practicing in a heated room. Also, the mat had zero processing smell and I was able to unroll it and use it without having to go through the process of "breaking it in." Excellent quality for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kharma Khare mat or recommend it to my yoga students and friends.

I have both the Yoga Reincarnated Legacy and the Lite mat and LOVE IT!!! I leave the Legacy mat at home to practice at home and take the Lite mat with me to the studios. I love the fact that these mats are truly Eco-friendly, not like some other mats that claim to be Eco-friendly. I mean they take old tires and recycle them into these AWESOME yoga mats! That's just genius! Don't have to worry about slipping (even in Bikram) and I'll never have to carry a towel again! So awesome!!!

The grip on this mat is phenomenal. I love that I don't need my Yogitoes anymore. I sweat a lot in my practice and this mat is great at keeping me planted where I need to be. I can't believe this mat is made from recycled rubber tires. What a great way to actually create a non-slip mat. Kudos on the environmental consciousness with a product that is green AND performs.
