The hinges work fine but it is too soon (right after purchase) to really evaluate a hinge. We replaced previously installed (approx 15 years ago) gate hinges (same brand and type) with these hinges because one of the prior hinges broke. So they do not last forever. Might be better in metal than heavy duty plastic. But nothing lasts forever.

I bought two other sets from Elite Fence company. They were more expensive and they have terrible customer service. So I found the same item on Amazon for less with great return policy if I needed to return them but I don’t.

Love this hinge. It gives a finished look to a gate. Easy to adjust tension for self closing.

replace the busted hinges

I bought these for a light gate with old spring hinges that would not close if there was any breeze. I bought a set of new spring hinges but they, too, had much too little spring force. These ones here are for a heavier gate and they close my gate decisively. There is additional adjustment remaining if I ever want to add more force. I did not use the trim pieces. They are shiny and did not look good against the matte black hinge and matte paint on the metal gate. It looks better without them.
