Cheap, both in cost and quality, but it works
The good: does what it's supposed to and didn't cost much. I've read and written CDs no problem, though haven't tried DVDs. I'm using with macOS 10.13.2 (High Sierra) on a Mac Mini that's old enough it only has USB 2.The mildly frustrating: it's awkward to close the CD drawer (and open it if you want to do so by pushing the button instead of telling the OS to open it for you). It's so light the thing slides around, but when you try to hold it in place by pushing on the top it's so flimsy it bulges down and geets in the way. You have to grab both sides at the same time you're pushing on the drawer. Similarly the drawer itself is so flimsy getting CDs in and out of it is a bit of a pain, too.The amusing: I still have no idea what the instructions were trying to tell me. Fortunately it doesn't matter. Plug it in and it works (at least with macOS -- I've no idea about Windows, and haven't tried it with Linux).Note that the cable, with a USB A plug on the end, is permanently attached to the drive, so you can't replace it with a longer one, or one with a different connector. Depending upon where the machine is you're connecting it to and where on it the USB sockets are, this could be a bit of a nuisance. I've not tried it with an extension cable or adapter.Anyway, meets my needs.

Seems perfect, canโt really figure why it is not working as such
I have only read from old DVDs so far. Incredibly slow even for copying few files to my SDD. All I wanted was a drive to recover old files before the CDs and DVDs are gone forever. This might not be it. Tested in both windows 10 and MacOS from my Mac Mini.

randomly disconnects a lot from computer
Updated Review:I updated this review from 1 to 4 stars because after reading the review, the sellers offered me a complete refund. I offered to send back the drive, but they told me to keep it and sent the refund anyway. The extra stars are for good sellers who believe in their product, perhaps I just got a dud.(Original 1 star review below)Disconnects a lot, especially during burning. Bought this to burn DVD's, some of them I have to make 5+ attempts to get it burned, because it will stop burning before the end, and then my computer and software won't recognize any dvd drive is attached, so I have to disconnect it and reconnect it for it to recognize it again, and then I can try again. It's been a big pain in the @$$, and I have had to throw away over a dozen discs so far in the last 2 days of burning of failures. When it works, it works normally, but it fails often and must be reconnected. Ruled out everything but this drive. Using Windows 10 and various different software to burn including the built in windows iso burner.

Won't download Game
Just contacted seller: Product downloaded music cds and Zuma. However, it won't download Bejeweled (PopCap)....error message ea time. Game downloaded on another computer via internal cd/dvd drive so it is not an issue with the disk but with the external drive. Since our newer computers do not have internal drives, a functional external drive is essential. Please advise. Thank you.

Nice little dvd player. Matches the color on my ASUS laptop.
Looks good, works fine, the price is right but it does need a longer USB cord. It is way to short. This is the only complaint I have about it. VLC media player linked right up to the DVD player enabling me to watch my movies. Shipping was crazy fast it only took 2 days. 4 stars for a nice product -1 for a short USB cord. I would have given it 5 stars if the cord was two foot long or more.

After a couple of months I had a problem with the drive and the seller replaced it and I am happily reading and writing
The drive works -- what more is there to say? I use an extension to connect to my computer so the short cord is not a problem. The speed is about average I think. After a couple of months I had a problem with the drive and the seller replaced it and I am happily reading and writing.
