For those like me, who've relentlessly purchase knockoffs for a replacement to the original Microbead pillow, this is the best option since Brookstone store stopped the production of FOM brand pillow.The beads are the same size and the silky-like fabric has a soft stretchy feel as with the FOM brand. It's not the typical bolster shape, but a shape I rather like. In time, the fabric stretches and provides an even better "squishy feel" perfect for contouring into areas you desire for support. No leakage or tears after several years of use so I've purchased three more to keep a supply on hand.Through the years, I've given these pillow in lieu of flowers for hospital patients, particularly loved by those who've gone through surgery. It's been a beloved gift for any reason.I've tried everything on Amazon and this is without a doubt the best in production.

I use this to keep my arm elevated at night. It does really well at keeping me cooled down too, which is so important during hot flashes at night.

ok, so I bought one of these pillows last month for my Hubs. It was so perfect that I bought another one for me. But mine is WAY overfilled. I tried it last night, and woke up in the middle of the night with a neck ache. So since I already used it, my next step is to try to open up the seam and take out a couple handfuls of the microbeads and sew it shut. Consistency is key, and unfortunately that doesn't seem to be in play here. I do like the removable cover that it comes with.Update: So a few nights ago I gathered together my scissors, needle and thread, and a 2 quart pot to put the beads in before I began to remove some of the beads. Then I gently and carefully opened up the pillow. Inside the outer seam was a little (2 inch) pocket made into the pillow to decrease the area of access to the beads and keep them happily inside. This is a well made pillow.But as I slowly opened up that little pocket (AKA Pandora's Box), it became apparent that these were not happy little beads at all. They were pissed off at being imprisoned in the pillow and wanted out immediately. Not only that, but after their confinement they wanted to go where they wished, and ignored where I told them to go.I thought most of them went into my pot. Maybe 1/8 teaspoon got loose at first. Those guys frolicked across my desk like drunken sheep, so I set the pillow aside to corral them with my hands. BIG MISTAKE! They loved the hands that freed them and clung to my skin. I couldn't brush them off - in fact, they seemed to like being touched and hung on harder. So I decided to push on to get more of them out and with beads all over my hands and fingers, I picked up the pillow again.But as soon as I touched the pillow, most of the fickle finger-clingers joyfully leaped onto the pillow covering. Another BIG MISTAKE! I think they were trying to communicate with the ones still trapped inside by offering encouragement and whispering of sweet freedom. This was fast becoming a free-for-all with rebellious, angry beads everywhere and more escaping from the Alcatraz pillow by the second.I took my eyes off the pillow for a nanosecond to move the pot closer. BIG MISTAKE #3! Never turn your back on microbeads, never. Now they were on my chair, on the floor and appeared to be multiplying like rabbits on the surface of my desk. I grabbed that pillow and got out about 2 cups before I gave up. I stitched Pandora's Box (now AKA Hell's Gate) back up, shoved it back inside the pillow, and stitched the outer seam together.I dumped the obedient beads in my pot into the kitchen trash. However there must have been some rogue ones mixed in with the compliant ones and they coated the interior of the pot and refused to go into the trash. From force of habit I tried to brush them out with my hand and then they were on me again like a starving teenager on a pizza. Maybe water would break their greedy beady grip! I was able to get them off my hands by weaponizing the H2O and I wiped out the rest of the stubborn little buggers left in the pot with a wet paper towel. I tied up the trash, then put that bag in another trash bag. Double bagged and done! No, sadly not...Imagine my horrified surprise when, in the light of a new day, my desk still looked like a microbead battleground. Worse, these illiterate devil beads somehow migrated into my books. A few inquisitive ones found their way into the desk drawers. The scariest thing was finding the sorcerer beads defying gravity by hanging on to the UNDERSIDE of my chair.Back in the kitchen, with Houdini-like skill, some beads managed to break out overnight in spite of being double bagged and put in the trash and were now on the OUTSIDE of the trash can. About ten were on the sides of the sink. Two had made it over to the coffeepot and three were checking out the toaster. There is no distance too great for them to travel; there is no limit as to what they choose to affiliate and align themselves with.Time to bring out Mr. Scotch Tape. I was able to satisfactorily pick them all up while ignoring their high pitched, tiny screams of frustration.Bottom line - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!! If you don't like your pillow (and many people love theirs) just send it back. Do not attempt modification!PS. It is now 5 days since I opened Hell's Gate. Every day I find more where there were none the day before. I worry they have colonized somewhere and are attempting a take-over. I think they may be in my compu

I like these pillows to cushion areas such as between my knees while sleeping, or to hold onto when sleeping on my side, etc. I'm glad they're still around, and got some for my grandson who just had surgery and needs something soft under his arms. However, if you're getting them for neck support, there's just too much give to help in that capacity. Won't work.

NO smell. Little smaller than expected. Would buy again. Good travel pillow
