What an interesting question! So, I just went, pick up my magnet, and tried it on quarters, dimes, nickels,, and pennies. NO, it cannot pick any of them up. There’s a verified answer but I do love it anyway!

Does the magnet head swivel so you can drag over gravel?

No, the head is a fixed connection. The handle goes through a hole in the middle of the magnet portion and is affixed with a nut. You could probably rig it to swivel somehow.

I love this tool. It's good for find drop screws in hard to reach places. Also strong enough for picking up certain tools. Good for picking up nails around your driveway, to prevent flat tires.

Works well with small pieces that I can't see with my eyes. I cut the tips of extra long screws and this finds them when lost in the gravel driveway.
