Great wine tool. I was looking for a replacement for the cheap ones that keep breaking. I opened it, and it feels like a quality, well-made tool. There is a little weight to it, and the corkscrew is well secured. The dual hinge fulcrum is great and works flawlessly to remove any cork. Also, it's nice enough to leave on the bar top and not be ashamed to have a guest use it. Though for personal use, I would not think twice about giving one as a gift.

I have been using inexpensive 2 stage wine openers from Trader Joe's and others for years. I find them easy to use and really like them. A couple months ago I misplaced the Trader Joe's opener and had to use a freebie one stage wine opener- what a pain. Then while traveling I bought another cheap one stage wine opener from Walmart and it was even worse- the metal prongs actually bent after a couple bottles making it impossible to get the cork out. Long story short, I wanted to go for quality so I bought this and it is easy to see and feel the difference. I am very happy with the purchase. It not only feels better in my hand, it works better. It is so easy to open even a tough bottle. The knife cuts through the foil easily- I think I underappreciated that feature in the past- and the cork screw really slides in a lot better. I bought a couple other inexpensive, not cheap, corkscrews to have for camping* and backup, but this is definitely going to be the one I use the most. * I do have multi-purpose / swiss army knives that have a corkscrew for camping and I can use them, but they are difficult to use some bottles and when drinking wine I prefer to be relaxed when opening the wine :)

This is built rugged. It is very stiff and difficult to work. I am hoping it will "break-in". If it does break in, I will give this 4 stars. update : I added a star rating because this tool has "broken in" enough be a nice tool. No longer stiff. I would give it 5 stars if it were cheaper. update #2 I have been using this for about 3 months , almost every day. It is built rugged and intelligently. I am upgrading this review to 5 stars. I just ordered another for a back up

I wasn't sure about this wine opener at first. I had been used to my old one that was stolen, so this one felt tight and awkward when I first got it. But now that I've used it a few times it's the easiest most effective wine bottle opener I've ever had. And if I work a bartending shift, I might open 10 - 12 bottles a night. It's the perfect size if it's perfectly in my hand. The pull up part when you're popping the cork is so smooth. It makes opening any wine bottle easy and it looks beautiful. I chose the black handle, but it also comes in wood grain.

Best item, forget the gimmicks. stick with this one

I feel I should brush up on my wine knowledge a little, as I look a little more wine savvy with a dual stage wine key! These work well, really 4.5 stars, as after buying multiple, some seem to be made perfectly, others a little loose on the tolerance side. It this price point, they're fine and pull corks well!
