Everything About Me Is Fake . . . And I'm Perfect

Janice is such a character. It's not until to read about her life that you realise that is what's made her the cynical person she is. Sometimes shocks you with the words she uses, but it's her life, a rollercoaster full of name dropping that many would find hard to beat.

very funny book, if u like janice u will love this. i have read all of her books and this one only took me 3 days i couldnt put it down.light reading which had me in fits!!!!

I really want to say I loved this book bc I want to support a woman that has made a stand against society, and her voice is loud and proud! The problem is I just don't believe half of what she says and have read so many reviews/ opinions about the events/timelines in this book just not adding up.Plus, while I love a confident woman, she is just too much. How many times do I have to be told she's the 1st supermodel and all the rest are subpar?? Ugh. Just can't.

Great "Janice" read! Light, funny, sarcastic... but always entertaining! Not as serious as her first book (No Lifeguard on Duty), but as good to read for those who like her "in your face" attitude. Also, book contains a lot of pictures. (But then again, considering who wrote it, would you expect the contrary?!!)P.S.: She may not be the best person to be giving advice on dating, so take what she says lightly. I'm just saying... ;)

『No Lifeguard』が好評だったので第二弾を書いてみました、という感じ。『No Lifeguard』は自伝としてそれなりに読ませましたが、こちらは散漫なエッセイ。美容整形の自虐ネタを中心に躁状態で飛ばしているだけ。著者のジャニス・ディキンソンは七十年代に活躍した一流ファッションモデルさんで、有名人含めて千人の男と寝たと公言する女性。わざわざ数えてたんですか、とゆーか。リアリティＴＶ界の大スターになって大儲けしていたはずが、リアリティＴＶというジャンル自体が飽和状態になった時期が経済危機と重なり、姿を見ないなと思っていたところ、今年に入って自己破産なさっていたらしい。主な原因はショッピング中毒と美容整形への出費が重なったことらしいのですが、「貯金しておくべきだった。どこに行くにもファーストクラスで飛ぶのを控えるべきだった」とかとかインタビューに答える彼女を見ながら、いや、そういう堅実な性格だったらそもそも別人だろうし、そしたら「芸なし、キャラのみ」の状態でスターになることもなかったろうし、と誰ともなく呟いてしまったワタシ。大金稼いで破産、というヴォラティリティの高さこそがＴＶ芸人のあるべき姿（か？）。ちなみに、ボクシングのチャンピオンというのは何十億も稼いで引退後には破産する、というのが常道らしい。ボクサーだけではない。アメリカのプロスポーツ界には自己破産が多い。何故かって、お金というのは稼ぐのも使うのも「競争心」を刺激するモノだから。スポーツ選手ったら競争心のカタマリ。ジャニス・ディキンソン嬢にしても「美の競争者」だった訳で。現在の彼女の顔は「フリークの時代」と「管理幻想の時代」を象徴していなくもない。過剰と極端に向かって走る時代。そして、科学の力で加齢は「管理」出来るのだ、という時代。人間意識はなんでこんなグロイ状態に陥ったんでしょうね。「富」の概念が自然界と切り離された時点で、「限界」とか「調和」の概念を少しずつ消失してったのかしら。いったい、この先に何があるんでしょう。ま、屁理屈は置いといて、私はこの女性が何故か好きです。誰よりもまず自分を笑う人なので。自己破産だって所詮は人生の通過駅よ、ジャニス！…という訳で、復活祈願レビューでした。
