My wife and I love to decorate and pretty much go all out with seasonal decor for the month of October. We’ve got a lot of neat decorations, but I’m always looking to find more cool stuff to display. So, when I saw this candle set, I knew I had to have it.*TL;DR Review Haiku™*Creepy candles ruleHalloween never looked betterToo pretty to burn*What I liked*:This is a fantastic gift package. As you can see from the photos, these candles come ensconced in a mini coffin with ouija board-style lettering and symbols on it. Inside is a red satin fabric that is draped over and around the candles (which are seated comfortably in a foam fitting under the satin). For what it’s worth, the whole thing (coffin and all) comes packed in a white cardboard box for protection during shipping.The candles themselves are exquisite. They are almost certainly cast from a mold, but you would never be able to tell, as there is no trace of a line anywhere. The details are wonderful. The spinal column candle is so realistic that it led a guest of ours to remark that they must have made the cast from a real human spine. The skull is equally impressive and macabre. It reminds me of the Death Eater’s mark from the Harry Potter books.*What I didn't like*:According to the label, the scent is supposed to be vanilla. I don’t get that at all. It’s closer to a floral scent to me. That said, it’s not unpleasant at all, just different than I was expecting.The elephant in the room here is the price. At $50 bucks, this candle set is definitely on the expensive side. I honestly wouldn’t buy these to burn as candles. In fact I have no intention of lighting them. They are gorgeous set piece decorations by themselves and we’ll look forward to taking them out every year in October.*The Bottom Line:*I am in love with these decorations. They look fantastic and really help set a spooky mood in the house. If you're looking to give them as a gift, it just doesn’t get better than the packaging either. The price is very high for two candles, but I honestly think it’s worth it (plus, there’s an 8% off coupon as of the time of this review, brining the price down to $46). The quality here is so good that I feel compelled (almost by a mystical force) to give these candles five stars out of five in spite of the high price. I’d absolutely order these over again. They look SO cool!

Love it but the spine came with a piece broke

This is a unique boxed candle set. It would make an excellent gift set! The coffin shaped box is sturdy and secure. They used packing foam cut to fit each candle exactly, and covered it in red silk cloth. This keeps them safe in transport, greatly reducing the chance of them getting damaged during delivery. (I plan on repurposing the box for incense later!) A problem with many black candles is that it's usually just a shade of grey. It's notoriously difficult to achieve a genuine black coloration, yet these candles are definitely a rich black color. The wicks are centered perfectly, so they should burn cleanly down. The vanilla fragrance is soft (not overwhelming), but still strong enough that you aren't struggling to smell anything. I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of everything. This is absolutely worth every penny.

I love almost everything about this except the smell! I opened the box and it smells like poison, just a horrendous smell. Like car oil maybe? It’s just horrible. I’m probably going to send it back. But other than that, I love the box it came in, the candles and the red bed they’re in. Just wish they smelled better.
