Overpriced toddler travel toy but not better than a magnetic drawing board
My son is 21-months-old and he loves this. We actually purchased this before Aquadoodle - Draw N Doodle - Classic Mat with BONUS Pen and Cap and her prefers the Travel Doodle. We like the sturdiness of the Travel Doodle. You don't need to put it on the floor or a table like the Classic Mat, it's stiff enough that you can use it in your lap if you're on-the-go or sitting around at home. At 21 months old, he didn't really understand that he could use chalk or pens on it and that's how we "lost" one Travel Doodle.Along with this Travel Doodle, we keep a the Toys R' Us Imaginarium Travel Magnetic Drawing Board in his diaper bag. Unlike the Magnetic Drawing boards, the pen isn't attached and that makes it harder travel-wise not to lose. We ended up buying extra pens, Aquadraw Aquadoodle New Replacement Water Pens 3 Pack , just in case. The replacement pens come with a cap but I don't see any difference using them or not. Also, one should note that the prices fluctuate. I bought this and the AquaDoodle Travel Doodle Paw Patrol Toy both for $14.99 each. As for complaints that it is an overpriced folder and water pen, I don't disagree. This item is definitely priced at a great markup considering the materials involved. My son's magnetic travel drawing board was only $4.99 and the larger version was $9.99. I think that $9.99 would be a better price for this item. If it's between this and a magnetic drawing board, I would certainly get the latter. My son prefers the magnetic drawing boards and he completely ignores his Aquadoodle - Draw N Doodle - Classic Mat with BONUS Pen and Cap .

My Toddler Loves it! So Do I!
I just bought this last week and I absolutely love it! We will be traveling to Asia next month and the flight is 14 hours, so I wanted to have something with me to keep my son (20 months old) busy. I was a bit worried about its size and weight before receiving it but that turn out to be a non-issue. The drawing pad itself is very light and slim, and I was able to fit it in my diaper bag just fine. While there is no cap on the pen, and the holder is on the outside, I didn't notice any wet spot in my diaper bag. The pen has a soft point tip (Almost feels like the texture and size of q-tip) and not bristle, and even though my son can and has be very rough with the pen (pound it on the pad ALL THE TIME), the pen is still holding up pretty well. The water seems to last quite awhile, but I got lazy last time when it ran out of water and I handed him a baby wipe and let him wrap his finger and drew on the pad... that worked great too ... so now I know if I'm on the flight and I don't want to get out of my seat to refill the water, I can just hand him a baby wipe. :PSome reviewers have mentioned that it dries too quickly, but I think it was just right. Usually when he finishes one side and move on to the other side, the other side (if drawn) will be dried. I'm not sure how long other parents are able to keep their kids occupied with this at a time, but for us it is about 10-15 minutes each time ... and then he gets bored, but he'll want to play again after a little while. I imagine he will be using this 3-4 times on the plane each way, that's at least 30-40 minutes break for mommy. Yay~Overall, I think this is a great item to have when traveling. Doesn't really take up that much room, very light, and will entertain the kids when you're in the car, on the airplane, or in the restaurant. Highly recommend it!

Pleasantly surprised!
Like many moms, I have trouble keeping my toddler busy when I am trying to get things done. This was initially an add-on to get free shipping, but I am glad I picked it! My two year old is great at finding every writing implement in the house, no matter how well we hide them. All I've got to do swap out the pencil/crayon/sharpie(!), plop her down with this for a bit, and I am in business again. It is very lightweight, which is helpful for carrying around and for car rides, and it dries pretty quickly. I sometimes wave it around to make it dry faster, but she just writes over whatever she draws, anyway. The pen holds a good amount of water for multiple uses, but it is pretty small, so I am expecting to lose it soon. I am sure that I can buy extras or improvise, if need be. It also wipes off for easy cleaning, which is always a plus, and fits in to my diaper bag.I hadn't had any experience with this kind of toy before, and I was pleasantly surprised at how she is entertained. Her older brother, 8, also helps keep her busy by drawing animals for her, though I have caught him more than once using it himself. The more robust versions are more expensive, obviously, but now that I see how much she likes it, I will add it to my toy list for future purchases.

Highly recomended
░░░░░GREAT TOY FOR THE CAR░░░░░This thing works just as well as it promises to. I had very low expectations on this toy but was overly impressed by how well it delivers. Then you write on the pad with the water filled pen it's clear and easy to see. And the fabric you are writing on is some kind of plastic so it dries really fast, meaning a kid can write and draw on it over and over and over again without having to wait. It's obviously not great for creating masterpieces that you want to keep forever. But it's a fantastic toy for the car as it doesn't need a ton of parts that can get lost and it's only using water so it can't make a mess. (Keep in mind that the water in the pen does run out every 15 minutes or so. So it needs to be refilled. So it's great for the car if you have another adult passenger that can refill the pen. Probably shouldn't try that while you're driving.)All in all I was very happy with how well this works. I really didn't think it was going to work as well as it's pictured in the photos above but it really really does.

I would highly recommend it for travel (car or plane) and love the ...
We used this on a five hour plane ride with my 1.5 year old and it definitely kept him occupied! I would highly recommend it for travel (car or plane) and love the fact that it isn't quite as messy as markers can be as the pen only uses water. The only suggestion is I wish it came with more than one marker as my son has lost it somewhere in my house and unfortunately it can't be used anymore! The product itself is great though :)

Great!!
I ordered this for my two year old daughter as a stocking stuffer. I wasn't expecting much as far a quality goes and I am pleasantly surprised. It is very durable and easy for her to carry it around. It's quickly becoming one of her very favourite toys. The mat has two colours, orange-pink and green. It unfolds easily and stays open. The handles and strong and durable and it has a little slot for the pen. I'll be buying another for my four year old son. Great buy!

Great for no-mess travel
Bought this for a plane trip, not wanting to bring crayons, markers, etc. This was a great option. Clean (only needs a few drops of water in the "pen") and the board dries clean within a few minutes, to start it all again. Very light and compact - easy to fold into a carryon.

Worth every penny. (Which are obsolete in Canada)
My daughter and her cousins love to draw in this aquadoodle. It keeps them busy and they’re always amazed when the “ink” disappears.
