Excellent quality tome American Library knows what it is doing.

A great book. Fun.

New Yorker review of Portis convinced me to buy the book. It’s a great read by a most creative story teller and writer. If you like humor, you’ll love this book…5 books & short stories in one book.

Portis is known primarily for "True Grit", and that is here in all its quirky glory. But so are four other novels (including the wonderful "Gringos") , short stories plus some reportage. If I would describe Portis, I would call him the undisputed master of the shaggy dog story. During his lifetime, he really worked hard to keep himself out of the limelight. Now that he is gone, it's clear that he deserved to be better known.

Not one of those counterfeit Chinese books.

Very undervalued writer. Sharp observations, lucid writing.

The evidence is overwhelming. The verdict is in.The Library of America edition of Charles Portis: the Collected Works is the publishing event of the year.This handsome volume arrived in excellent condition in a timely fashion.

Acabo de recibir el libro y solo quisiera dejar constancia de un error grave en la informacion del anuncio de este producto, en donde puede leerse quecel volumen consta de 1296 paginas, cuando en realidad solo contiene exactamente 1096. Tampoco se trata ni por asomo de unas obras completas, como tambien se informa erroneamente en el mismo anuncio, es solo una antologia de las obras supuestamente mas relevantes.

Portis is without doubt one of the greatest American writers.I'd highly recommend this collection of his work.
