It is very compact which is great for a BOB. It is sturdy. The illustration is a bit misleading though. Some of the items are enlarged to show what they are. So don't get freaked when they aren't as big as depicted in the photo. It folds very nicely and fits beautifully in the provided case. This will obviously protect whatever bag you carry it in from being torn or cut by the edges. It is really great

I needed to replace my shovel and decided to try this since I could have a multiple use tool. It's made well and handled some light digging in my yard. This is not meant to be a heavy duty shovel, but should do well for hiking or camping.

I bought it for my 72hr bag (I do off road recovery in Colorado) and it is a bit on the smallish side. If you are looking for a something you can dig a ditch with, this isn't you're shovel. If you're a hiker, it is pretty nice. It seems to be well put together, small and light. I've used to dig rocks on trail and it worked great. The added features in the handle are pretty slick. I'd recommend it for hiking or in circumstances where you may have to carry a shovel over a distance in an emergency.

Had it for a few months now and its holding up to the abuse well. I mostly have used it as a hoe or pick and it makes it easy but what impressed me was the details, if using the shovel straight out the pick becomes added grip. The size fits/feels good there it's a small shovel so you couldn't use it like that all day but for a compact camping/survival tool this is it.

I like the shovel don’t get me wrong but I took mine camping for a couple days to test it out and well it works good for maybe small jobs but really nothing else mine started to rust in the first day or two I had it because it’s composite iron I have no idea but it works alright but looking for a better one.

I went winter camping for a long weekend at about 8000ft twice.It did the job really well, it was able to chop and saw dead trees and branches to build my fire, I sparked the fire with it, dug through snow and dirt to build my pit for the fire, dug a toilet, and built my "kitchen" in the snow. After using it as an axe which is not technically its use it did bend just a tiny bit but not enough to be an issue. My only issues with it is that it can be on the heavy side when you are walking several miles up a mountain and in the winter the metal can be mildly an inconvenience but you can adjust the handles to the height you want. Overall I am satisfied for the price.

I live in an area with lots of snow, Ice and mud. I have a two-wheel drive compact pickup that is light in the back end so gets stuck easily. If I find myself stuck in snow/ice I use this to dig a little out in front of the back tire, then use a foldable metal traction mat to give my tire something to grip. This folds up into a small case so doesn't take up much room. Perfect for my winter emergency kit along with the traction mat, a 15 ft. tow rope, and a small hydraulic jack. And way cheaper than buying a 4-wheel drive truck for the two-three times a year I need it, LOL

Like the coating of it, I didn't expect the coating to be so smooth. Also the handle is steady when locked in place. In order to get ready for SHTF, you gonna need a survival knife, a small spade, some antibiotics and some filter straws etc in your backpack. This is kind of bare minimum size for this purpose. There was a video of military spade for PRC and that one is really impressive, but too large as it is for sappers.

Amazing! Used a lot of camping and outdoor stuff. Best in its class .Grease is polished all over product in begining. It is slippery at first. Then after washing it's okay.Could have added a hand tether .
