EXHILARATING, SUSPENSEFUL, HEARTACHE, LUSTFUL!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️5/5Pen Pal is such a good read. Right of the back you get thrown into the character’s heart aching at the loss of a loved one. Soon after that creepy letters start arriving. Kayla’s mind is all over the place and you get dragged through it. One minute she doesn’t know how she got somewhere and the next she’s trying to play catch up with her memories. Kayla lives in an old historic home, which doesn’t help when she starts to hear creaking footsteps, lights going on/off and her doorbell going off…is it as simple as the house might be haunted? Or is it the stranger sending her letters, maybe it’s the creepy figure that’s outside looking in randomly… in the meantime, Kayla gets sucked into a hot and heavy one night stand with this delicious guy she shared drinks who happens to be the guy that was supposed to fix her leaking roof problems, …turns out he caused more leakage & this time it was coming from her body…When one night turns into two, then three she ends up sitting across the table on a double date with his friends. Could she really be ready for a new commitment like that?Dive into this book, it’s a good read, fun and oh so delicious. They get hot and steamy, flirty and dirty. You won’t want to put this down until you’ve devoured it just like Aidan devours Kayla 🫣🤤🤤.

Stunning
Let me just say this is not typically the genre I would read. But I absolutely loved it. Adian and Kayla are amazing together. So far all that I have read from this author has been amazing.

Surprising
Won't spoil it for you, but this was nothing like I expected yet still a great read.I don't like to be surprised, I don't like to cry and this book tugged at me.It did keep you wondering, worrying, excited and needing to get to the end. Some spice and kink...dominating so if you're not into that don't buy this.

Not quite sure how to rate this- but celebrating it's brilliance
Struggling to rate this- because what even was this story! On one hand, it is brilliantly told and constructed. Mesmerizing and a total page turner. It's creative and bold. And it certainly moves- it makes you FEEL and hurt and wonder. There is the groundwork for a brilliantly existential allegory- a tale of self actualization and confronting darkness and having the courage to take a quest for truth- within your own self.On the other, I felt like it missed the opportunity to wrap up in a way that built to the potential of it's powerful meaning. The twist/non-traditional side of it itself isn't what I'm speaking to (though I can see how others would find this story not quite a romance). More so, to me it came down to the way this story closed- the focus and messaging of the last few chapters. While entertaining, it almost cheapened, to me, the impact- didn't quite give a closing that had the substance of the romance. Hella entertaining- absolutely. Fulfilling, well, not quite. Certainly I respect JT's artistic voice, but the last few chapters didn't match the depth of the story she'd woven.more to come. this story is amazingly fresh, just go in with an open mind, and if you need a traditional HEA, be warned, this might not be for you. Overall, I'm rating this story based on its creativity and cleverness- it truly is an artistic triumph. Though I saw the twist/reveals coming, it didn't lessen the impact in anyway. It's a beautifully composed story- until the very end where I felt it lost it's impact in how our characters spend their final chapter. But, as a romance, this would be more for a 3 star read for me. It doesn't feel romantically satisfying in anyway, though it's a meaningful and special story. This is more of a suspense/thriller. Had this not been marketed as a romance, even though the author was very clear it is not traditional and different than her other work, than I may have calibrated my expectations better. I still expected a bit of an HEA or closure, and I'm not quite sure this felt like it had either for me personally.BUT, based on the story that is here, removing my expectations, I can see the author's vision and bold story telling for all the beauty that it is. This story plays out like a vivid and consuming movie right on the page- that's how compellingly consumptive and immersive this story is. So for that, and the fact that I was deeply impacted (tears and all) and can't stop thinking about it, I'll give credit where credit is due. This is a story you'll remember.
