A Double-Whammy Grief
I had never heard of retinitis pigmentosa until a good friend of mine confided in me 15 years ago that she was gradually going blind. I stumbled upon this novel recently and was surprised to find the protagonist struggling with this diagnosis. I learned a lot about my friend while reading this book. Not only that, but Dani also struggled with helping her 12-yr-old daughter Bella grieve for the sudden death of her father. Mary Ellen Taylor knows how to share the difficulties many experience. This is a page-turner, a solemn reminder that we all need in order to cope when life hits us hard. In the meantime, Dani finds romance. But the question all through the book is how does she tell that special someone that she is going blind?

Yet another winner for Mary Ellen
I felt like I was sitting on the back porch drinking my iced tea and enjoying every minute reading this book. My tears were there at the end and felt like I was releasing my jar (loss of my son and husband) into the sound with them. Thanks Mary Ellen just when I think your last book was the best I’ve read to now this fabulous read. Keep them coming!

Grief hurts
My daughter lost her son a year and a half ago. My grandson. It has been very hard. She will see something or hear a sound of just have a memory and then she feels sad again. It's true that there is no time limit on grief. Everyone processes it differently. I really liked the idea of the jars!

enjoyed this book, it's pretty much a sequel
This book continues the story from a previous book "The Brighter The Light". Both were nice reads, the kind I like when I don't want to have to think very hard! If you're looking for any depth you won't find it. It's just fun! Try her other books too....

A typical plot that turns to be more.
How many books start with a woman restarting her life and shockingly there’s a gorgeous guy around. That’s how this starts but it’s much more interesting than that. There’s a lot of sorrow in the story but you learn so much that helps deal with it. If talking about death is difficult don’t read this but if you are open to learning you’ll want this on your bookshelf.

cute book
I enjoyed this book, took a little to get into. Enjoyed reading about people healing from loss. Good reminder of how evening copes differently and healing takes time.

Great Read
I love this author's novels. Her characters are so real and the locations touch my heart. Having grown up along the coastal areas of North Carolina and Virginia, I'm familiar with both her locations and settings. all of her story lines are so real and down to earth. All in all, her books always touch my heart, and I highly them to for your enjoyment.

enjoyable read
Mary Ellen Taylor is always a good read, fun light hearted stories that follow on from one another but don’t matter if you don’t read in order. A good author to follow

A very good story
An interesting, sad in places, story about different types of grief and ways of overcoming this in varying time scales. A book well worth reading but with happy endings

Emotive
Although I found the overall pace of the book a bit slow, I'm not going to deny that it was indeed a beautiful and emotional story about coping with grief. Everyone has a different approach when it comes to grief and it can either be healthy or detrimental to one's mental health. And this is very nicely pictured in this story and its characters.
