Fantastic!
Went right out and started picking as soon as the book came it. Great little book that's easy to carry with you. Really looking forward to seeing the bounty the desert provides as the seasons change...

Great for Southern Utah as well
I live by Zion and at first got the Utah food plants book, it had very few of the actual plants I saw here and is better for northern utah. I realized there was a Sonoran desert book as well so I ordered that and finally now I am seeing a lot of the plants in this book! Very happy and excited to try some of them out.

Fun Adventures Await for Me
Like this book! Just got it but I can see it is going to be fun to explore. I like that it is brief and specific to Sonora desert and that it provides cautionary statements where needed, but also packed with a wealth of information. Of course it goes without saying one should also dress accordingly for protection against the sun and the potentially dangerous wildlife while out on your excursion. Looking forward to digging more into this book.

One subtle but major issue
Haven't read through the whole book but the author continuously refers to Native people in the past tense. While it may seem harmless it perpetuates the idea that we all died off. Sonoran desert Natives are still here and they're still actively practicing and passing down their cultures.

Sonoran Desert Food Plants: Edible Uses for the Desert's Wild Bounty book review
My book arrived in perfect condition. Looking at it, its a fantastic book. It covers 41 different edible plants that grow wild here in Arizona. There were several things that stood out about the book:1. Detailed color pictures of each of the 57 plants native to the Sonoran Desert3. Arizona county map with each county hi-lighted where these plants grow4. A single page for each plant that covers the plant range & habitat, edible use, medicinal use and a section on special note and cautions4. Very compact and easy to pack in a rucksack, when your out in the booniesThis book is every bit as detailed as its companion book "Wild Edible Plants of Arizona" also written by Charles W. Kane. I'll be carry both of these books when I go out in the boonies
