At first use, I was thinking this may be a bit larger than I had hoped for - especially the overall length. But after a few uses I appreciated its size. The drain slots are close together so that you can easily drain most any food item - noodles, frozen veggies, etc., without danger of food slipping through the openings. It has worked wonderfully for ramen noodles. The long handle is easy to grip and keeps your hand far from the hot water when draining items. And, I no longer need to take the colander down from the cabinet, set it in the sink to drain the item, wash it out, dry it and then return it to the cabinet. With my new spider strainer I can drain items easily without setting anything down, or fear of being burned, and then do a quick rinse and I am good to go. Easy - Peasy. This was a good purchase.

I had one of the Oriental wire and wood skimmer and it just didn't do the job. This reasonably priced item changed the "playing field" completely. By the way, the Oriental item hit the garbage can shortly after I tried this one.

This is great quality, well made, sturdy. The rows of strainer bars are close enough together that most items you are skimming are picked up. I do have a steel mesh strainer skimmer for other, finer skimming needs.

I bought so many cheap spiders strainers it’s nice to have a high-quality one. Works great.

This is exactly what you expect from Oxo’s Good Grips line: utilitarian, well-made, simple but effective. It doesn’t feel especially luxurious, but absolutely gets the job done and feels built to last.

Works great for taking tomatoes, peaches and other items from boiling water — works great to get a bit of pasta out of boiling water to test for doneness as well. Cleans in the dishwasher just fine.

Quite sturdy and well-made; the bars don't detach or bend with usage. Handle is great to capture all sorts of things, such as those extremental specimens you need to send to the lab when you're over 50 years of age. Will actually hold my pet Yorkie when she's rolled in her own processed doggy food, so I don't get any on myself while carrying her to the sink. Mostly I use it to scoop up things I've been cooking in hot water b/c it works so much better than a colander!

Every kitchen needs a spider! It's great for taking vegetables and pasta out of boiling pots. No more using the lid to drain over a sink. This is a solid product and easy to hold and use. Great value for money.
