Astral Fortress

I purchased this for my husband at Christmas time and he loves it. He said it’s an awesome record!

Great powerful guitar tone and great drums from greatest writers. How do they keep this up...most rock artist burn out after they get famous.

This record is extremely awesome darkthrone did it again delivering that true original sound every release. True to the thrashing , black metal , darkening punk , sends shivers down your spine... Hail darkthrone! And it came in great condition and delivered quickly.

Not a dull moment from start to finish; my favorite tracks were Eon 2 (good galloping riffs/beats) and Stalagmite Necklace (with eerie keyboards).

Ein Schlittschuhläufer mit Darkthrone-Backpatch auf dem Cover, Songtitel wie "The Sea Beneath the Seas of the Sea" und ein Fenriz, der sich diesmal das vollständige Pseudonym Gylve "Infidel Castro" Fenriz gegeben hat: Sind Darkthrone jetzt zur Comedy-Band geworden? Nein, keine Sorge. Das norwegische Duo zeigt nur einmal mehr, dass man auch im Black Metal mit dem Sinn für Humor nicht hinterm Berg halten muss. Aber ist "Astral Fortress", das immerhin schon 20. Darkthrone-Album, denn überhaupt Black Metal? Gylve und Ted alias Fenriz und Nocturno Culto sind schließlich bekannt dafür, das zu machen, worauf sie gerade Bock haben, Erwartungshaltungen der Fans gehen ihnen zum größten Teil gepflegt am Allerwertesten vorbei - und unter anderem das macht sie sympathisch.Einen vollkommen radikalen Stilwechsel haben Darkthrone allerdings nie vollzogen, somit enthält auch "Astral Fortress" immer noch eine große Kelle Black Metal. Dazu kommen Doom, Rock und mal wieder jede Menge Kauz-Metal. Obwohl es ein paar schnellere Passagen gibt, ist das Tempo insgesamt eher schleppend. Ganz große Kracher hat das Album nicht in petto, dafür gibt's auf der anderen Seite nichts, worauf ich lieber verzichtet hätte. Mein persönliches kleines Highlight steht in Form von "Eon 2" übrigens ganz am Schluss. "Astral Fortress" gefällt mir besser als der Vorgänger "Eternal Hails" (2021), jedoch kommt es nicht an das großartige "Old Star" (2019) ran. Wobei meine Meinung Fenriz und Nocturno Culto völlig egal sein dürfte - und das ist gut so.

Well production wise it’s a marked improvement on the previous effort. Additionally this is a very good album. I really don’t need to say too much more as I’m sure true fans of darkthrone will love this as much as I. Hail brothers and sisters.
