It's a good fan.
I. Love. This. Fan.We bought this for a new bath fan install in the bathroom - that is, installing a fan where there was none before. We wanted something that was automatic, that was low energy, and that was also not super quiet so folks could have some privacy while they did whatever they people do in bathrooms. This fan does all that and more.Installation is a... breeze... The instructions were clear, and the thing well machined enough so that we were able to get it into place relatively easy. While I don't recommend it, I was able to install it by myself, without any help and especially without help from my cat who mostly watch with a disinterested flair. It's more amazing than it sounds, because I have the carpentry skill of a hollow rock. This fan comes with two important things: an on-board humidity sensor, which can be adjusted or disabled; and a modest blue nightlight, which cannot be disabled without covering it or breaking it.The humidity sensor is lovely - it's very cool to be able to just take a shower and have the fan come to life when the humidity rises to a set level. It's also very cool that you can leave the bathroom and trust that the fan will turn off on its own once the humidity drops back below that same level. You can also override that feature so the fan is always on, or wire it so that you can have the fan use the on-board humidity switch AND the wall switch, which kind of blew my mind. The light is actually really nice. The little blue light is always on and reminds you that everything is just fine. It also shines enough light into the bathroom that you can take a shower with romantic electric blue ambiance if you'd like. You cannot, however, turn it off. The blue light turns to amber when the thing is actually running, so I guess I lied about the part where you can take a shower with a blue light. Sorry.Wiring is easy enough - while my carpentry skills are nil, my wiring skills are modest. Mostly I replace fixtures and outlets. Wiring this up, even with the more complicated switch power AND sensor power circuits wasn't too complicated. The diagram is helpful, and the online site has another if you somehow lose yours.Last thing is the sound - some of the reviewers will tell you that you cannot hear his thing when it's on. That is definitely not my experience. You can hear this thing just fine, and that's just the way we wanted it. It's not overpowering - you can still have a conversation on a cell phone, for example - but it's louder than quiet. That might be a facet of how we had to route the ducting in the crawlspace more than anything, but something to consider. All in all I'm happy with the investment. It's a good fan.

Big time upgrade
So far, this fan’s working really well. We’d been looking all over for a humidity sensing fan this specific size and couldn’t find it at any of the home improvement shops around. Thank goodness for Amazon, I feel we lucked out finding this one. Being DIYers, the install was a tad challenging to figure out at first, but watching YouTube videos helped. The challenges we experienced really had more to do with placement of our house’s studs/joists and less with the unit itself. We had to add 2x4’s in the attic to brace it where we wanted to install it. Our install did require attic access (to add supports, connect the exhaust tube, etc.) and a little drywall patching, but ultimately it came out perfect. I love how quiet it is! Would buy again.

A simple unit that works well and evacuates air with minimal sound
I've had no issues with this vent in a small bathroom. Not too noisy, the light is useful to brighten the other half of the bathroom, and it was fairly easy to install.

The exhaust fan works better than expected
Love the fact that this fan is almost silent and with 80 CFM moves the right amount of air to remove moisture & odors from the red bathroom. Very satisfied & would buy again.

Quiet, strong fan and was pretty easy to install
So far after 3 weeks this fan has been a drastic increase to the 15 year old fan I replaced it with. The bathroom I put it in has a tub and is approximately 6' x 7'. I had to cut 2" of the ceiling on one side to make sure the fan had full access to the bathroom. I was replacing a fan so the wiring and access was not that difficult and I am a DIY'er for the most part. The fan is way quieter and as some reviews indicated, that could be a good thing or maybe not. We have sufficient spacing between the floor and the door when the door is closed and I can feel the air being sucked up to the fan which creates the air flow needed to vent the bathroom. In my case, during a hot shower the mirror does not fog up. The unit I purchased was a little bigger than what is recommended for my size bathroom based on the sq. ft. I purchased the 100 cfm.

Quiet, Powerful Fan With Humidity Sensor
I replaced two of my three bathroom fans with this model, and I am very happy with it so far. The fans were easy to install in the existing openings, which were about 1 inch longer and wider than the fan body, with some maneuvering space above the ceiling. I put the fans into that space to connect them to the wires and the exhaust hose; then I lowered them into their final position and uses screws to connect them to the ceiling studs, with a 1 inch piece of wood as gap filler on one side. These fans are more powerful than my old ones and much more quiet, especially in the low speed setting. I would say the noise is just right to remind me that a fan is still on; it is not annoying.I see that another reviewer gave this fan a negative review because of the "requirement" to connect it to two switches. Let me clarify this a little bit. You can connect the fan to a single switch, which just turns the power on and off. This is what I have done. When the power is on, the fan will switch between its lower and higher speed setting according to the sensed humidity, with an adjustable threshold. Im my case, a setting of 60% makes the fan go to the higher speed after a few minutes of showering. It will stay at the higher speed for at least 10 minutes, except if you switch the power off. You can change the lower speed setting to "off"; then the fan will come on (at the higher speed) only when the humidity threshold is exceeded. Now what is the purpose of the optional second switch? If you connect the second pair of wires to a second switch, you can use that switch to activate the higher speed mode manually. It is like a humidity sensor override. In my opinion it is not very important to have a second switch because the humidity sensor will take care of the speed switching as needed, at least in a bathroom scenario where humidity is the main concern. If you don't use the second switch, you can leave those two wires unused. I put tape over their ends to avoid a short circuit.
