Is this scarf really 100% silk? At this price? I've been ripped off before.

I think BookluvR is confused about Llynns99's answer (and misspells her name BTW), stating "Lynns99 answered that the scarf is silk because of its diaphanous, weave."

In fact, Llynn99 did NOT say the diaphanous weave proves the scarf is silk. Rather, she points out that the diaphanous nature of the 100% mulberry silk scarf indicates that it is of a low momme count.

Not all 100% mulberry silk is of high momme count; and that may or may not be a matter quality. For instance, an ultra-light wrap selected only to accent an outfit rather than for warmth is likely to be in the range of 9-14 momme, whereas a pillowcase will be 18-22 momme, giving it a tight weave, mostly for durability and extra slickness. Scarves in the 14-17 momme range seem to be what most people expect all silk to look and feel like, but you can see it actually varies quite a bit.

I have two of these scarves and think Llynns99's explanation is right on the money. I too believe that while the lighter weight of the material makes it see-through, that factor is in no way an indicationq that this isn't 100% silk.

has anyone tested this fabric (e.g. burn test) and can confirm it is real silk (not synthetic)?

I did not burn test the fabric because there were no loose strings to pull and I wouldn't pull them anyway. I personally don't think it is synthetic because it is so breathable when I wear it. It is very thin and it does come with a tag that says 100% Silk. I bought W05, blue with white roses. It is slick, shiny on top side and flat satiny on the under side. I believe that is the charmeuse weave that causes that. But no... I did not do the burn test.

What color is W18 in your scarf

I ordered W05, it is navy with white roses and the colors do match what I see on my monitor.
On my monitor the colors of W18 look to be gold, medium blue and a deep black grape shade of purple.
I don't know if this helps but it is the best I can do.
