Works great
I replaced a 17 year old unit just like this one. I hope it lasts as long. It is louder than my old one. So far so good. Easy set up. 👌

Nothing beats Hayward products but do winterize it properly for maximum longevity
I purchased this Hayward pump to replace a failing pump that was only a few years old. The bearings on the old motor were failing causing the pump to be very noisy and heard from several houses down.I tried to replace just the motor but the nuts and bolts were so corroded that they could not be freed from the pump housing.I suspect the corrosion was due to leaving the pump outdoors all year round including the winter. With this new pump I plan on keeping it stored indoors off season to better prolong its life.Otherwise no issues. The pump is very strong and quite quiet, I wouldn’t buy anything different.

Very quiet, great flow and easy to install.
Same hp as my old pump but noticeably higher flow rate and much, much quieter. A great feature is the easy outlet configuration to horizontal or vertical. Standard sizes on the inlet and outlet made connecting to existing system simple. Well designed and built pump.

Good pump - lid is a BEAST to remove
This is a good pump and works nicely for my 24' above ground pool (approx. 15K gal). I use it in connection with the Hayward EC40AC Perflex Extended-Cycle D.E. Pool Filter. My only grip is the lid on the strainer basket is incredibly difficult to remove. I can sometimes do it alone, but usually need two people. I've used the gasket lubricant recommended by Hayward as well as some others - that just seemed to make it worse. This is the second of this pump that I've had. On the first one I attached some extensions to the lid handles to give myself some more leverage. This allowed me to open it by myself. If you empty your pool skimmer basket regularly, you won't need to take the lid off very often, but sometimes leaves/debris get through. On the former pump I had to replace the on/off switch after about three years. An easy/inexpensive repair. The old pump finally gave out when the bottom rusted out. This was because the connection from the pump outlet to the filter inlet leaked very slightly and kept the underside of the pump wet. My bad for not having a tight connection. I also purchased a rigid plastic pump cover to keep this black color pump out of the sun and run a little cooler. I would buy again, but Hayward -- make the lid easier to remove!

Great value for the money
We had to drop $60 for unions that were not included, but considering the price of the pump, it's still a great value. Those who complain about how hard it is to remove the filter basket cover are probably not following directions. You need to lubricate the o-ring every time you empty the basket. But the basket is huge, so we only have to empty it once a month. The pump is extremely quiet, and has plenty of suction power for our 15 ft. above ground pool. Highly recommend!
