Q: How long are the handles for this tote?

Not very long. Long enough imo.. They can go up the arm to shoulder but most comfortable half arm to elbow.. Hope this helps.

Try it. I would put it in a mesh laundry bag on gentile agitation with other soft laundry. Cool temp.I think it will hold up just fine

Q: would it fit a litter water bottle?

Yes a one liter will fit, it depends on the shape of the container. This is a typical lunch packed in the bag, 2 frozen gel packs, the ones you put on a sore muscle, one on the bottom, a 12-16 oz drink, then the other frozen pack. A yogurt, a fruit cup, a small container of cottage cheese, an apple, then zip up the bag. Hope that helps.
