Some of these nighthawks they say are locked. It only operates under AT&T are Verizon no other Netwerk will work you can get a nighthawk that is open to other networks but that isn’t the real problem. The problem lies that it will only work if you buy it from that net work I had one that was locked send it back and got one that was unlocked, but it wouldn’t work because AT&T wouldn’t activate it because I didn’t buy it from AT&T and if you did get it open, the cost is really bad you get so many gigs at a certain price after that time is up you get charged at a ridiculous rate every 10 minutes you can spend $1000 or more a month doesn’t really make sense I sent both of mine back

Is the ethernet port for input or output?

Ethernet port is for both input and output...only 1GB when attached to USB to AC adapter with battery in the hotspot....goes up to 10GB when battery is removed and powered solely by USB to AC adapter

Is this unlocked and can this be used on any carrier?

The unit I received is unlocked and I have used an att similar card & mint mobile Sim. Both Sim cards worked, however, the router will not connect to true 5G mobile...att only connected to 5Ge which is actually att upgrade 4gLte network they marketed as 5Ge prior to deploying real 5G. Mint connected to 4Glte. This device should work with any carrier that use GSM Sim cards....
