Funny, loving, uplifting, great read for kids and adults
The writer has a great feel for the natural world and for animal behaviors even though the animals in her stories talk to each other and have relationships boosted by imagination. The mixture of phrases from Turkey and Texas is so much fun. Family members will learn a lot and laugh a lot and get lumps in their throats. Read this book if you are a kid. Read this book if you are an adult. Read it as a family. Enjoy the loving relationships, the natural world, the hope, Turkey and Texas.

Love This Book!
I purchased this because it is on our William Allen White Award list for our state. I thought this book was so funny and informative! I had to look up many words but I like that aspect! Because of that, I will read this aloud to my students so I can explain what things mean. I think it will be a very neat read aloud since there are some funny characters that I can give voices to.

Noble Zade
Well told tale based on the slight historical fact that camels were once brought to Texas. The author did not dumb down the language. She used words that an adolescent might need to look up, that would expand a reader's vocabulary. The story had an excellent arc.
