Latte Darling: Darling Series, Book 2

Sometimes you find the ‘one’ when you least expect it
Although ‘Latte darling’ is the second book in the ‘Darling’ series, it can perfectly be read as a standalone. You don’t have to read the first book before reading this one. You get both POV’s in the story. The main characters in ‘Latte darling’ are Maddison (Maddie) Richards, who’s 31 years old and Axel Davis, who’s 52 years old. Both have their own business. Maddie owns a coffee shop and Axels is owner of a body shop. They meet on a blind date. (Although the blind date was actually meant with Axel’s son Brian and not Axel! But it’s Axel who shows up for the date.) From the beginning there’s chemistry between them. Both think the other is too good for them but the attraction between them is too great to ignore so they start seeing each other. During the story they will have to overcome two obstacles. They will have to confess their relationship to Axel’s son Brian and a few negative, bad comments from a relative on Axel’s side makes Maddie very insecure about herself and her body and makes her question their relationship. Can Axel convince her that they belong together? This story took me a bit by surprise. It was a lot steamier than I expected but I liked it!From the blurb I knew that there would be a big age gap between Maddie and Axel (Axel’s son Brian was 20 years old if you were wondering about that) but the ‘daddy’ talk in the bedroom took me by surprise. But then the big age gap made the use of that word in the bedroom sort of ‘logical’. Anyway I liked it and even more so that there were some funny conversations about the word ‘daddy’ in the story too. Maddie and Axel were great characters in their own way. Maddie’s parents died when she was only 18 years old, so she had to grow up fast. Although Maddie had a great life she was also very lonely. She wanted someone to love and care for her. But her shyness and sensitivity made it difficult to find someone. Until the thought of going alone to her best friend’s wedding made her desperate enough to try a dating app, not knowing that that would be the start of a new love and chapter in her life.Axel was something else. A big, muscled silver fox with a lot of tattoos, you would think that this bossy, alpha, grumpy guy would scare Maddie but NO. For the first glance, she’s attracted to him and his body and more importantly she felt safe with him. They were really perfect for each other. Maddie was insecure about her curvy body but Axel really did his best to show her in different ways that he loved her curves. And yes, he was very bossy and overprotective but Maddie loved it.I read in some other book reviews that they found Maddie too passive and compliant in the relationship and I can understand why they said that but I had no problem with that. Maddie just had a very sweet and gentle character and she was very submissive. That made her and Axel the perfect couple because he was super bossy outside and inside the bedroom. The secondary characters consisted of Maddie’s and Axel’s employees and Axel’s son, they were great characters. This was a light, steamy and funny story where the main focus was on the couple. (We didn’t learn much of their past, just what was needed for the story.) There was an epilogue at the end and I enjoyed that very much.So if you don’t like super bossy guys in your story or ‘daddy’ talk in the bedroom, don’t read this book! But if you do, try this book.

A steamy age-gap, protective H, insta-attraction read
This is book two in the series, and was recommended in a book group online. I started with the first book in the series, as you do, and while it was enjoyable, it wasn’t my favorite. But I definitely was looking forward to this one, and I’m glad that I read it. We have a smoking hot silver fox, Axel, who meets Maddie when he shows up on while she’s waiting for the guy she met on a dating app. Turns out the date is Axel’s son, and Axel confiscated his phone and car as a punishment But he couldn’t leave this poor girl, thinking she was getting stood up. And right off the bat, they are both instantly attracted to the other. This was definitely a smoking hot read, and I love these two together. Maddie is filled to the brim with anxiety and self doubt, and with her parents having died when she was 18, she has been drifting along through life mostly alone. Axel is the perfect guy to fall into her life and help take some of that burden. It was a fun read that kept me pulled in, and it definitely was steamy.

Perfect amount of healthy bossing around.
There are so many reasons I don’t enjoy reading books specifically categorized as “plus size” first off, we are all just women, no need to separate by whatever you wear. 2nd I don’t need to read about body issues from the FMC, I was a child of the 80’s and I’ve heard it all. I’m tired of this narrative that we have to continue to fight for our worth. That being said, this was excellent! It was my current favorite genre which is “age-gap, daddy kink, blue collar” and I MIGHT have changed my tune about the body talk by the end. I loved that Axel didn’t see Maddie as anything but his perfect baby girl and he built her up every time she tried to put herself down.Smut and alpha male was a little more toned down than I prefer but I think my novella reading has messed with my expectations 😂 it was still hot and heavy especially that very last scene! This was a classic if they just communicated then there would be no issues but what kind of a boring story would that be?! Love isn’t easy!I am adding the first book in the series in my TBR. I’m excited to explore more of this author and it sounds like there is a hint of a third book to this series in the epilogue, so that is exciting!

4 daddy stars
I loved this book. Maddie and Axel really were the perfect fit for each other. Maddie was so freaking relatable with her worrying and feelings of loneliness. And Axel, wow, don’t get me started. Such a perfect and s*xy man. This book definitely made me want to find my very own silver fox...Just like the first book in the series, this book loses one star in my rating because of the incorrectly formatted dialogue. (Yes, I’m a nerd and nitpicker, so sue me.) This book would’ve been my first 5-star-read of 2023 if it hadn’t been for dialogue tags and punctuation errors… With that said though: I highly recommend this book!If you’re looking for a story about a lonely heroine and a much older, grumpy-ish, single dad hero, who just happens to be the perfect mix of caring and s*xy and kind and k*nky, then this is what you want to read. And, um, did I mention this story features a bit of a daddy and a discipline/punishment k*nk?

I really enjoyed this one
I really enjoyed this book!It has all the tropes I’m obsessed with at the moment, and the story line was fun, fast paced and entertaining. What Maddie thinks will be a first date with a young 25 year old Brian, who she’s hoping will be someone she can take to her best friend wedding, ends up being his dad! Oh and Brian it turns out was 20 not 25, which for Maddie’s own 30 years old is a bit young. Internet dating ay?🙄Axel though? Brian’s dad? His 50 year old silver fox vibe is doing things for Maddie and they decide to see where things will go!Maddie girl I don’t blame you! Axel is a typical alpha male and I love to see it. Just the way he instantly makes Maddie feel safe and loved and cherished was just so precious. For me the only downside was I wanted a few more scenes in depth. There was a few that felt a little brushed over.I would really recommend this book if these are tropes you like!Tropes:Age GapDaddy (very light)Soft TopRange & Rep:Adult romancePlus size repSpice:🌶️🌶️🌶️

Book Boyfriend Worthy
When I saw this book recommended in one of my Facebook group today as « just published and so good », it sounded like exactly what I needed. And I have to say that it did live up to its promises. Here we follow Maddie as she meets Alex (drool worthy, tattooed silver fox) while waiting for her date to show up. From there things happen and, as they say, the rest was history. Just kidding, a lot happens but I don’t want to spoil it.I have to say I was completely engrossed in this story and finished it in a few hours without taking a break. I found Maddie to be relatable and sweet. She was vulnerable and lonely and I felt for her. With Axel she found a home and I was here for it.I really liked that this story was low on drama, steamy without being over the top and entertaining. I smiled a lot and now I am a bit sad this is over. Some aspects of Axel and Maddie’s relationship were a bit out of my comfort zone but it didn’t take away from the rest. So no harm done. All in all, Latte Darling was a very pleasant surprise. If you like an age-gap romance with a shy heroine who finds herself, a demanding, possessive silver fox and a lot of coffee, then this book is definitely for you.

Daddy Axel 🥵
I loved this book. It was a sweet story with great characters and plenty of spice.Daddy Axel was just 🥵. He was perfect. I loved how thoughtful and protective he was. Maddie was a great character and I loved how down-to-earth she was. Maddie and Axel were made to each other.I loved how they met. Axel had no shame, and rightfully so. I loved how they grew close and embedded themselves into each other’s lives. It was natural for them. The story was good seeing Maddie learn to trust him and seeing Axel learn to open up. The spice between them was hot and Daddy Axel don’t half know how to talk in the bedroom.Overall, this was a sweet, hot story. Maddie and Axel are brilliant characters. I would definitely recommend this book.Jessreviews.co.uk

Coffee, Curves and a Hot Daddy
Saw this book recommended a couple of times on Facebook and as I love the age gap/daddy trope decided to give it a go and I was not disappointed. This book had me wearing a massive smile whilst reading it (apart from a couple of times that made me teary) and had some nice spicy scenes too.The main female character is chubby and self conscious feeling like she needs to hide behind Spanx and cover her lumps and bumps but the main male character Axel loves all her jiggly bits and makes sure to let her know it.It’s a well paced story that’s an easy and enjoyable read. Coffee, curves and a hot Daddy.

Great read
Maddie is single and wanting to meet her one , she has been talking to a guy via a dating app and has agreed to meet him for a drink. Axel is heading to meet Maddie to tell her his son wont make their date. She soon finds out the son is 20 not 25, Maddie has had a little to drink and feels brave enough to ask Axel to join her for a little while.Axel isn't comfortable with her going home using an app to call a taxi, so drives her home. He is a silver fox and she is a siren. This is well written book, with wonderful characters and a sweet story. I absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down.
