JVCCar Play headunit

I have a 2006 Corsa D nicknamed the 'boomerang car'. Bought from new it has been owned by my wife, my brother, my nephew and my sister - each time coming back to me at the end of their tenure. The standard CD radio was replaced years ago with a very expensive Clarion satnav/dvd system, and this unit has been slowly failing over the last 12 months or so. I therefore decided to replace with this JVC mechless unit, mainly because it devolves all the processing and data storage to my iPhone.You can read up on the features of the unit elsewhere. I would advise downloading and reading the full JVC manual as well as the quickstart guide.In use it is intuitive and the look and feel of the controls is impressive. Telephony is a breeze to learn and if you invest in a decent patch lead (eg the Connects2 CTMULTILEAD.2) the existing steering wheel controls will work.The main problem for me was that the supplied metal cage would not fit the double-din hole in the car dashboard. It has a series of raised humps along the top and bottom edges which prevented it from being installed, even after minor mods to the dashboard aperture with a fine hacksaw. In the end I used the original Clarion metal cage, modified to suit the reduced depth of the head unit, and I used the Clarion escutcheon too. It all looks good and I am very pleased. Everybody in the family is likely to use the Apple CarPlay direct connect, with the exception of my sister who has an Android phone and will use the Android Auto facility.All I have to wonder now is which sibling or child will have the car from me next!

With no experience of changing these before. I managed to swap out the fascia in aTransit and fit one off these and continue to use the steering controls

Absolute garbage.Both Andriod Car play and Screen Mirror failed to work. JVC's screen Mirror app doesn't even open on a Samsung Galaxy S20 😠
