Finally, some Rex and Amanda!
It’s hard to really suss out which parts are in each book since the narrative flows so smoothly but the events in this book is so exciting. I really wasn’t sure where you could go in this series after ALL the crazy events in the past but the plot with Allen and the plot with Rex/Amanda have been incredibly enjoyable. The conflict between Rex and Amanda, their growth and especially the situation they’re in is something I’ve never quite seen and feels like could have been a series in itself - it feels like a short novel set in Dune or something. Anyways, great book and can’t wait to keep reading.

Robot and Monster Girl steal the show
"What's happening?" is a very good question indeed. It's actually been a few weeks (okay, months) since I picked up the last book in this series, but I was able to jump back into things relatively easily. The highlight of this collection was absolutely learning what happened with Robot and Monster Girl in the other dimension. It's a ridiculous adventure and paints both characters in different lights at different times. I was definitely turning the pages for more of that story than the things in between.Because what's happening in between basically boils down to two Invincibles means twice the angst. While I'm interested in both Mark and Zandale's stories...I'd honestly rather just read about Eve. (I am loving an intelligent, beautiful, AND full-figured lady superhero, and I'm kind of bummed that I know she returns to being a stick figure later in the series, based on future book covers.)

Twitlsted Ends
It is a good turn in the series for the protagonist and has some meaningful changes and continuity that are good ends to certain story arcs.

A more positive perspective
Great volume! The detour to the central story is amazing and totally worth the read. Both Ottley and Walker (the illustrators) bring their A game and the art is really something. It never feels jarring as each style tells a different part of the story.I do not understand the winers who reviewed this volume with such low scores. What most people are complaining about is that Invincible is hardly there...yes, but it's not an arbitrary decision. Invincible is recovering from the events of the previous arc and he physically can not be in action, and so other characters take center stage. Other characters go through fascinating arcs and changes. In some ways, the story is much fuller and more sophisticated than the usual ultra-violent adventures of the title character. This gives us a chance to get to know these other characters, who are just as interesting and complex as Invincible, if not more so. While we learn about what happened to Monster Girl and Robot in the Flaxan dimension we get a chance to actually miss Invincible. A trick rarely used in serialized fiction: making us really miss the main character and his heroics, while the series is still going, so that when he finally returns it will really mean something. It's a brain vacation from the usual status quo, and only a creator owned series can do something like this. It's a brave decision by Kirkman, and in my opinion this is the strongest volume in recent memory. Read it, you won't be sorry.
